Centari was the shizznit in its time, I learned to paint/blend/color match with it. Acrylic enamel, aged way better than the laquer it replaced but more difficult to apply. Mostly single stage, they had a clear coat for it but it yellowed fast. PITA to use on flexible parts like bumper covers (which were relatively new at the time). I'm willing to bet that Challenger doesn't spend a lot of time sunbathing either. :D

I think you guys are missing the obvious here, Dan is taking advantage of the "free" paint job, to get it in nice shape, because he is getting ready to put it up for sale. He was PMing me earlier about my LX470 for sale... I guess he is going to buy a 100 series :princess:

:D

Why did the truck need to be refinished 9 years ago? It was fairly young at that point.

Acid rain damage (industrial fallout).

It got that coming over on the boat. It was "repaired" by overly agressive buffing which caused the clear to die an early death.

No worries Harry,

They will be prying my cold, dead, fingers off of the steering wheel. :)

I told Connie that I intend to be buried in Pristine.

She said sure, then informed me that I would be cremated and she would sprinkle some of my ashes around the inside right before she sold it. She was not kidding either. :frown:

If you had purchased a better colored one, she wouldn't be in such a hurry to sell it! ;p:D

Knowing Connie, you are absolutely right. :grinpimp:

I found this burried on page 10. Here's a bump for an update.:)

It's still getting the treatment. I hope to get it back Thursday afternoon. They are still sanding on it to get all the dead pigment off and then priming and blocking again. It takes a lot of time and I have not been pushing the guy 'cause I don't want him to cut any corners to hurry it along.

Sounds like you are getting it done right! Best way to go.

I went by the shop this afternoon to check on Dan's truck. As he said, it is still getting prepped for painting. Seems Dan's so-called buddy in the body shop business has a keen sense of humour and a bit of an alcohol problem. I slipped the guy a $100 bill and a paint code. We'll see what comes out of the paint booth later this week. :D

I assume your choice of paint code would be something in the saran wrap line of codes?

Got the old gal back on Saturday afternoon. Here are a few before-reassembly shots.
