I've got the same noise when cold. My reservoir is clean and it has fresh fluid, still makes a little noise. Goes away when warm.

Mechanic's stethoscope says that it is definitely the vane pump. Interested in trying some Mobile 1 ATF or even synthetic power steering fluid as I have some Valvoline Max Life ATF in there now, but doubt it does anything for the noise.

My steering feels awesome. We did aggravate the pump off-road when it was maxed out at lock for around 3 minutes while my wife navigated an obstacle this summer. Fluid got very hot but the reservoir was able to handle the extra fluid expansion.

Well, egg on my face. I went to look at the PS fluid today and noticed the damn thing was nearly empty. Whoops... Looks like the two hose clamps are weeping a little bit so I snugged them and topped off. Noise did subside a little bit but I'll see how it does for a few days.

It's 270k+ miles old, replacement isn't that big a deal if that' what's needed. :meh:

Took a trip with @sammybones to Iron Mountain off-road park in N GA this weekend. Was a blast, but we found some mud holes we really didn't need to try out. Check the water line across my tail light

Gerry got stuck pretty well in some deep mud and water. Had some intrusion past the PS door seals and unfortunately, probably drowned my amp and killed my stereo. Once the weather clears up this week I'll need to pull the seats, door panels, and carpets to dry it out.

Otherwise, great trip!

Looks like fun was had! I bet being triple locked made you try stuff you wouldn't have tried otherwise :hillbilly:

Is that @sammybones truck in one of the pictures? The poor truck looks a lot like mine!

Seems all that's missing are the marshmellos

For the record @ClassyJalopy my truck is beautiful. Also, not sure why @MongooseGA hangs around with me willingly. If I had to guess, it’s because of my charm and my insatiable appetite for high class escorts.

Escorts help.

Someone's gotta be my mobile winch-anchor.

I walked out to a flat tire on my DS rear yesterday morning. Not surprised, I could hear a tiny pinhole leak when airing back up on Saturday. Likely got something in the bead and prevented it from sealing properly. I swapped it with the spare, dropped it at Discount and had them put both tires back in the correct place this morning. Man, those Discount Tire certificates are great. Cost me nothing other than a fiver to the kid who did the work while I sat in the car.

We had some sunlight today finally, so I started taking the interior apart. Door panels were first, then the mats, then seats. I probably spent about 30 minutes just spraying into the cavity of the door skin to remove all of that super super fine sediment. It flows well when it's saturated, and sticks to itself like thick clay when it's left alone. I scheduled the carpet guy I use in my investment homes to come out on Thursday and shampoo the whole carpet. I'll also take the opportunity to re-foam my PS speakers. Looks like the back speaker was more than wasted. I never heard it, though.

Now, how do I go about fixing or replacing this (possibly) dead amp??

Looks like you are on it! I'd suggest looking into a sound deadening matt to put in the out skin of the doors, since you have them apart anyways. Usually makes a big difference in the sound quality of you speakers, and also helps cut down the road noise.

If I had some more time this week, I'd look into that. I've got 2 closings this week though and new purchase we're starting rehab on so until Monday, plus I'm still in the process of restoring my 560, hopefully to have it driving by V-day when my fiancee comes to town.

Contacts --- FiberCare of Atlanta ---- Pro shampooer 😁 I actually had the same guy do the truck two years ago when I bought it.

I’d pull the carpet for sure.

At the very least I'll be pulling it up toward the center console. No moisture made it beyond the underseat area in the front. But, I will likely need to pull my drawers and the inner fender well tupperware to get it all cleaned back there.
