Well in that case it seems we have more than a 77 Series in common. : )

You're saying that you are extremely good looking too? I had to go in to get my A/V fistula scoped as the dialysis clinic suspected there was some blockage. They ran a balloon in and did some stretching and then threw me back out with a bill.

Good news on the 77 front. New lug nuts arrived along with some CB radio gear. Still need to figure out which DC to DC converter I am going to order before I install my HAM and CB radios. I'll just mount the CB antenna and pull its cable into the cab for use with an adapter for my handheld CB radio that I keep as a spare. Details to come when I'm feeling better.

In my case, I was keeping my wife company while she had a "thirty day" heart monitor installed.

Back home and have a question about a non-functioning switch on the side of my drivers seat. Is it for seat back adjustment or some kind of lumbar support? Really hoping that it's for the seat back adjustment as I'd love to set it a bit higher but there seems to be no position to lock into anywhere I want it to be.

Thats for lumbar support. Have you tried the switch while sitting in the seat? It doesn't make any noise, so it is not easy to tell if it works unless you are in the seat and can feel the difference.

Thanks, was afraid that is what it was for, I really need to sort out how to get the seat back to latch in a position higher than the "laid back teenager" position that it's currently only able to latch into.

The grey handle at the bottom of the first picture adjusts the angle of the seat back; if you pull it up the seat back should spring forward. If it doesn't latch into position the latch mechanism might be worn or missing parts. It should be able to latch in numerous positions.

Sadly mine really only has two latch points with both of them being too far back for my personal taste. Once I finish a few projects on the Tacoma I'll pull the seats out of the Land Cruiser and see what needs to be done to get the additional latching positions working.

Heading out to the shop today to build a new set of wheels and tires to replace the set that I stole off of my Tacoma for this Land Cruiser. Afterwards I plan to attack the broadcast radio antenna and OE snorkel install. I've poked and prodded and to date I really haven't sorted out how to get the old antenna out without removing the outer or inner upper fender. When I remove the retaining cap on the outside of the fender the rest of the antenna assembly stays in place which I believe is due to it having a bracket attached that bolts into something below. I make this assumption because the replacement antenna came with a bracket that has a bolt hole and the fact that the old antenna won't budge. Am I even close to being on the right track here?

And on to a different issue.

My wife and I have been back and forth about this issue for a couple of weeks. We like having a roof rack, but accessing it is a little frustrating. She in turn wants a ladder, while I myself would prefer something a little different. Searching here on Mud and elsewhere I keep coming across pictures of these really interesting looking handholds/steps. Are these an OE option or an aftermarket solution? From everything I have found, they are only found on Troop Carriers but I wonder if they could be retrofitted onto the 77. Any insight that you can provide would be every so greatly appreciated as while the 77 already has heaps of accessory armor and bar work I just have an aversion to having a full on ladder in place.

@WanderinWhitlows ..... "they are only found on Troop Carriers" ......
Putting Troopy parts on your Cruiser will cause an overall devaluation and should be avoided at all cost. :)

Looks great. But like I said, a full on ladder is too much for me. Personal tastes and all.
I understand and your idea is certainly more discrete however at my advanced age I would probably bust my heinie on something that small. :)

The biggest problem I can see with those handles is that there is a window in the way on a 77. I just don't see where they would go. Otherwise they look pretty nice, although I do like having a ladder, especially when I am getting down off the rack.

you are correct about the antenna. if I remember correctly I think the bolt for the brace is bolted to the firewall, but you need to remove/loosen the fender to get room, unless maybe if you remove the door-haven't tried this yet.

I studied it more and see exactly what you mean. I'll go back after it again.

I was thinking that I could get by with just the lower step/handle as you are right, there is a pop-out rear window that denies the ability to install the upper step/handle.

Nice floor idea :)
Might have to remember this for the future.

I did a similar tray in my old Pajero iO. I used the truck for dive trips and had a specific restraint target I wanted for my tanks. I recessed my seat track rails and used SS sleeves to prevent the wood from being crushed. My best gues was 1000 or restraint.
