First let me start by getting this out of the way now.
Everything I know about Land Cruisers I've learned from all of you here on this web forum and from hands on experience with this particular example.
Details:
1990 HZJ77HV-PEU
VIN: HZJ770001186
Front axle: K082
Rear axle: K082
Source country: Japan
Engine: 1HZ 4.2L 6-Cylinder Diesel
Transmission: A440F 4-Speed Automatic
Steering: Power, Right hand drive
Odometer: 226,672 KM's at time of purchase
Original paint color appears to be the same as the example that @1978HJ45 has, but was repainted by past owner in "Toyota Desert Tan," Which to me look like a FJ40 color. It came with a few aftermarket options such as ARB bumpers front and back, a Come-Up 24v winch, and a 20" LED light-bar.
A few changes are in store for this Cruiser to "make it mine," as it were.
I will be replacing the wheels and 31" tires with something less flashy with 33" tires. I am changing the winch to something rated a bit higher that also safely accepts synthetic rope. The 20" LED light-bar while impressive, doesn't seem to look right in my eye on a 70 Series so I'll be changing it out to some round LED lights. The OE halogen headlights are woefully dim and they will be replaced promptly.
My plans for this Land Cruiser are to enjoy the fruits of the previous owners labors and drive it, allot. I'll detail my experiences as well as the changes I make here in this thread and strongly encourage your input. While I may not heed your advice for any multitude of reasons I still greatly appreciate it as I will be learning on the run now that I am responsible for taking care of this excellently prepared edition.
I've been enthusiastic about off-road capable Toyota products since I was a teenager. My First Toyota, an 85' single cab pickup was short lived as a drunk decided to recycle it with his Buick. Not to be deterred I immediately invested that insurance check into an 86' 4Runner which I loved dearly, and even though I was a total idiot and did allot of really stupid stuff both to and with it, it never let me down until it finally couldn't survive me any longer. I killed it in a beautiful grass field in Jalisco, Mexico. And due to lack of money and common sense, enlisted a few friends that were with me to help strip what we could from it and abandoned it as it were. The farmer that I gave it to acted as if people gave him broken cars on a regular basis and that this was a normal thing. Killing my prized 4Runner was not my proudest moment but it happened and it taught me allot about not being an idiot and that even the most magnificent machines have weaknesses.
I've had a few others since then but nothing worth talking about until I bought my daily driver which is a 2011 TRD Sport Tacoma that I've been tinkering with off and on for a few years to make into a cable family camper.
