Sorry I don't have a better pic. It's 1/4" thick rectangle tube cut down and welded to the axle. then its clearanced on the bottom with 1/4" plate.

i bought one made from a pipe cap from a guy on here a few years ago, it's held up to some major hits, i think his name is pigpen or pigseye or something like that, i don't know if he still makes them though

You can cut the fixed front diff cover off of your housing, deck it smooth, drill and tap holes, and then use an aftermarket armored diff cover made for the rear axle. You'll have the diff protection, and easy access to the front diff.

Here's a pic of mine. I know it's not a great pic of the diff cover itself, I can get better pics.

I opted for the football helmet guard because I had some stock laying around.

I saw something similar on an FJ40 up here ('mudname: tootall). He said Profitt built it for him. It's a nice way to beef up the axle housing as well, without sacrificing clearance.

nothing a 20 ton press and some scap steel cant make. thats what I did with mine. no pics yet. but just bend a projected where the ring goes. and some side ones to. bent them with the press and it could take a beating. it looks better then the pipe cap is my .02 cent

Hey guy, sweet idea, I was thinking of doing the same but using BTfab's rockring welded to the diff, then bolting the cover to it, just another option/opinion.

i took a spare rear diff cover and cut it up, then welded it on top of the front one for more protection, so far its done a good job, but it looks kind dumb and id like something a little more beefy for my next one!

I wanted to fab up a Dynatrac style cover, but made the ribs too long & of too light guage mat'l.

sweet idea man, shame on the exection champ. are you going to do it again? use thicker material? if you do would like to see a finished product.

i am a fan of the 10" pipe cap and here in TEXAS with all the natural gas drilling they arent to bad.

I bent up a few peices 3/16 and did 2 layers over the lower part and in front of the ring gear. Not tested yet...
