Kevin asked you if the CEL was illuminated with the key in the ON position without the engine running.
You said no. That means that the ECU is not in a "ready state". In that situation, the engine will not fire.

I suggested you unplug the AFM to see if the CEL illuminates with the key in the ON position. If the CEL illuminated with the AFM disconnected and extinguishes with the AFM connected, then the issue is with the AFM.

General rule of thumb: NO CEL with the key in ON position BEFORE cranking the starter = NO START.
Sometimes this is caused by molestation of the AFM. More often then not it is caused by something else, but you mentioned buggering up the AFM in your original post and unplugging the AFM is a quick and easy test.

Okay, my mistake. The CEL is illuminated with AFM plugged/unplugged and key turned to ON.

Before you mentioned you did not have a cel with key on, that would indicate a different problem. I'm 99 percent sure you have a problem with air flow meter, since it's a 93 make sure you get the right one, some say vaf/vfm... Just make sure it has the V.

Edit to add: when my solder connection broke I could push on the connection and stall the truck, this is how I found my intermittent problem. It would stutter and stall while driving at random times, when the connection completely broke, it would not run. Good luck

Hopefully that is the case. I'll try getting another one and see if that fixes the issue. If not, then I'll know more of what it isn't.

Ok, I have been trying to help him out but I am stumped. We replaced the afm and it didnt help. Talked with him and we managed to get code 14.

I had him swap the efi relay and his fuseable link is new. It did t help. He has 12v going to the coil but not getting fire. What's our next step here?
