With the fan assembly off, were you able to get a mirror or phone camera into the opening to the left of the fan assembly? - basically where that screw in the middle of your photo above connects the two. If fan is blowing strong - I suspect you're going to see a few decades of dust and debris - something like this: View attachment 1505463
From there you'll decide whether to clean or replace your evaporator.

One other question, when it comes to cleaning the fan, should I remove the nut in the middle and clean the motor inside?

While you have the fan out plug in the wires and turn it on, switching through all the speed levels. Obviously, hang on to the housing and don't let it flop around.
Should run nice and strong with ease.

When you reinstall it, feel around under the dash to see if there is an air leak in the duct joints. I recently completely redid the HVAC in my FJ62 and the foam seals on the blender doors and all the joints were shot. Like brittle crumbling foam. Just something to think about as well.

Well I vacuumed the evaporator but no luck.

One random question, the little hose that comes out of the fan and plugs in to another nozzle, should that be pushing or pulling air or neither?

So no air when you set it on re-circ as well? Just wondering if you have blockage in the intake behind the wiper motor. Or that evap or heater core is jammed with crap

How do I check for blockage in the intake? I did a serious vacuum of the evap today, didn't move the needle unfortunately.

If you pull the motor and look up/ or remove the wiper motor, there is a large intake screen that can get blocked by leaves. You can put it on re-circ to bypass the fresh air intake to see if that is the issue first.

You know what's odd, when I change between re-circ and air from outside, #1 - it doesn't change the output power of the fan but also #2 - it doesn't sound/feel like anything is changing. It's as if the slider is just a placebo

Cable may have come off the end that goes to the door or is bent.

Yup, check the cable as @Landpimp said. Make sure the cable is on the post and the cable housing is clipped into the stopper/holder (its unsecured in the photo below but you can see the rusty clip next to the end of the housing):

Is that part of the evaporator unit...or is that accessible once the evap is out? Is that the flapper door for Fresh and Recirc air? What did you use to rehab the flat foam surfaces?

Haha, theres a few different AC threads going on (including my own) and I keep forgetting which is which. Think it was you or @jawjatek that posted the weatherstripping sourced at Home Depot in another thread.
