Update.
The FJ55 yesterday travelled the 250km back to my mate's shop where stage 02 will start.
Booked in for Sliders, Rear Bar, Winch Bar and Shock Towers to suit the FJ60 Steering Box.

Also found the Bearings on the FJ60 Diff are cactus, and the Brake Cylinders in the BJ73 Diff are just as bad.
We also popped the Welsh Plugs running the 2F. So will need to fix that as well.

With a Weekend at the shop coming up, I thought I'd put a list together of items I'm hoping to achieve!
Grinder/Recip Saw is coming out for most of the morning that's for sure.
Start the Tear Down and get ready for some Bar work.

Update.

My friend and I had a solid weekend at the shop working on Project Karma.
Have cut off all under the doors and Rear Quaters in lue of the coming Barwork being made up.
Bullbar, Sliders and Rear Bars being mocked up.

Fit some 35x75xR15 -44 offset wheels as well. Makes the project look pretty stable.
There was plenty of rust in under side of the vehicle.

Pressure washed and rubbed down to make myself feel better about the project.

Bring on 2019.

Worst part about working under an old car is rust falling into your eyes.
Removed the Factory Rear Bar. This vehicle had a Vacuum Braking System installed for towing Caravans in the 1980s, as well as two different trailer plugs (7pin and 12pin)

This was the Last time the FJ55 was neat before the Nip-Tuck began.

Update:
Happy 2019 all.
The year is off the pearler as the photos show.
Our FJ60 Diffs came with a snapped CV Joint which was so destroyed that the swivel was unusable.
Found the Welsh Plugs shot and replaced those.
Here's hoping for some better luck with the project.

Update:
Turned up to the shop to find the wild weather we're having in Sydney Australia has sunk our efforts slightly.
Wheel stands sunk and fell over. Everything safe thankfully.
In better news, We've swapped out the FJ60 Diffs Front and Rear with the original FJ55 Diffs.
Swapped the Locker from the 70 series into the FJ55 Housing. Bolted right up.
Even has an engraved Serial number on it.
Now standing proudly on it's new 33x11.5 R15 Chrome Rims on Mickey Thompsons.

With the FJ55V Project back on it's wheel we can start on the smaller details.
We've had an idle issue where the car won't run smoothly.
Found a few small fuel and air leaks around the carby which were nipped up, and changed the fuel filter which gave it a bit better running sound, but still not perfect. Have to pull apart the carby and try the idle jet.

My mate with his Water to Air Intercooled B3-T BJ42 turned up to lend a hand with the works.
Runs a Thomas PTO Winch up front. Custom Sunroof and painted in 1G3 Toyota Landcruiser 79 Series Graphite.
This thing is shmick. We travel to OCKA in Victorian High Country every year for the 40 Series Jamboree as you'd call it.

A few sneak peaks of this month.
Designed the Front/Rear Bars and Sliders.
Flashed up the 9" LED Spot Lights as well with a coat of paint.
Being fabricated at the local shop.
Something to make it a little different to the other pigs.

What do you think? Overkill for a Weekend Crawler?

Pulled out the Warn 8000XDi from the 80 series I own as It's destined for the FJ55.
They build them tough back in the day. This thing has never been serviced and still ran no dramas.
Spent 3-4hrs Cleaning up the insides, filling with Motor Oil and Greasing all the Cogs.
She's a beauty now. Ordering some Yellow Dymeena Rope for it now.
Have you checked your winch recently?

The FJ55 was struggling to idle since I put the new AISAN Carby on it. After pulling it apart, cleaning it and reinstalling it, the old 2F Fired up first go. Slight advancement of the timing and we are away.
As I let the engine warm up to temperature I noticed something wasn't quite right with how it sound. Noticed the Exhaust Gasket had smoke/Steam. Pulled the Manifold off and changed the Exhaust Gasket.
That where we ran into big problems.
Milky Oil in the Block.
Found the Head Gasket completely stuffed.

Head gasket was stuffed? Not cactus?

Haha! Yeah mate, She's NFG (Not Effing Good) She's at the end of her tether. Up the creek without a paddle.
You name it, She's cooked.

I'm loving this build.

Would really like to see / hear more about turbo 2F's..!!!!
Anyone got any specs / part # / sources for a set up here in the states?

Since the 2F is no longer with is, and the OCKA2019 40 Series Jamboree nearing, it was time we bit the bullet.

Hey Tatortot, The Carby and Turbo are listed back in the thread. I believe it's off an Australian Build Holden Commodore or Torana. They were also fitted to Jaguars. The manifold I have looks like it's been done out of a peice of fence pole. Not professional at all.

2F is out. Finally!
Now onto the 2H Swap.
Have to work out Motor Mounts and If the Clutch Fan will fit.
Here's hoping!
