That's the evaporator.. The solenoid on the side of it is to turn the fuel on.

What's the battery hold down doing over there???

This 55 came with a set of Dual Batteries. Right hand Drive models are on that side of the car. Battery was removed and clip was thrown on top.

Progress over the weekends thanks to a few buddies of mine.
Installed what's the last piece of the puzzle with the Suspension with the 2" Superior Engineering Anti Inversion Shackles.
This put the total lift at 75mm above standard height and a tonne of Flexibility, mixed in with the 78 series springs (250kg rated)

Both Brake Lines were extended using the spares one I had in other cars. Locktite and Man power have them sealed.

Started Strip down of Rusty Parts.
Changed 3/4 Doors to the CFA Cab. Changed out the Interior Trim on those Doors, Cut wiring and Speakers out for the mean time.
Changed the Dash over as the Turbo 55 had been reupholstered.

Did some serious impulse buying and found a 73 Mid Wheel Based Air Locked Diff Housing and installed that into the FJ55V.
Came with this 2000's AIR Air Locker. All functioning. Can't say I am more happy at the purchase.

And how she sits right now with Visor and Old Cruiser's Kicking Arse sticker on 33's.
Still a long way to go but looking really good!

Few weekends lined up for the remaining mechanics with Brakes and Fluids. Should be back running and driving again by December ready to be driven to my uncle's shop for Rust Repairs in the Floor Pans, Roof and usual spots.

So here in Australia we're able to have custom number plates.
Since the 'JDM and 'ADM scene is quite big here, NSWPlates ran a set of Japanese styled.
I was lucky enough to get these made for me.
Should see them in the flesh in two weeks.

That is awesome with the characters underneath.

Stoked with it! I was looking just for FJ55 or IRNPIG but they were both taken. Once the plates arrive I'll send a better photo of them.

Progress update.
One step forward and two steps back.

After looking into the rust repairs of the Brown FJ55 it's been made clear that a Body Swap would be the brighter Idea for the project in the long run. With that, I'll be starting to use the CFA Cab as our Body, whilst using the Chassis of the Brown.
I am looking forward to bringing this one back to life as it's a part of Australia's History. Might end up with a red FJ55 after all.

It's rust free, with a few spots of mould on the roof.

I may have missed it, the “red” one has a significant past? Do tell...

I like the sun visor

FJ55s were used in conjunction with the FJ/BJ40s for most projects or government organisations in the 70s/80s
The CFA is the Victorian Country Fire Authority, a Rural Fire Brigade nation wide. The story of my current cab is that it was used in that timeframe for that Company. I am hoping to dig up the history by contact them directly and chase down any information.

Attached is a Photo of an FJ55 being used to tow the Surf Life Savers Helicopter in Australia.

Just need a matching set of turbine mags on the pig!

Agreed. the 285x65xR16s really don't cut the mustard now.

After the weekend past we've changed a few things before the old girl rolls back home for major surgery.
The White Turbo Cab had some neat FJ60 Disc Brake Diffs with Better Hubs. Swapped those out with the 55 Axles. Everything lined up, even the Pinion. No change in the Front Prop Shaft Length either.

After that, I started on the brakes.
A few pumps of the peddle showed a few leaks at the new 73 Series Rear Diff.
Pumping from these small bleed nipples. Maybe they're supposed to have a push ball inside?
Had to order some spare parts. Until next time.
