Heard ToyotaMatt has OEM oringinal tailgate handles dat are 100% Teq specific for 8 different models of FJ55s from 1956 to 1997 that may need a little trimming to Fit, but daze purrfect. And will work wit Military and Non Military FJ567s so if ya needs 1 contact Matt on his Non- Sales website wit he charges double the Axing price when you PM him. Almost choked when me wanted choke cable $80.00 on web and 3 times that when asked to put word choke on knob instead of symbol 🧐🤔😳😯😲. Bought cable at hardware store and rebuilt at home (in my thread) girl at hardware store gave me the cable cause it was only 50 Cent ( No not the Rapper.) Thats what it cost to rebuild my $185.00 choke cable. ****ing ZERO, My labor only. So be fair Matt. You only get 💩 down here when you **** Up .🤔😳😯😲😉👀🐽

I think there's a little satire in that post.

Hello! My name is Nick, I am friends with J Mack and I do a bunch 3d Scanning/Reverse Engineering/3d printing. I will be working on making a replacement tailgate handle for the FJ55. This is very much still a work in progress but I can update this thread as I go!
Hi Nick!

I have scans of the original pieces if you are interested.

You may have already scanned the pieces though, it looks like I missed your post by a few days...

My guy scanned into CAD and then radiused a few of the sharp corners to improve strength.

Just LMK if you want the files - post here or drop me a PM.

Yeah that would be awesome! I have the handles 3D scanned so far, but If you already have reverse engineered CAD files that would save me a ton of time!

Some updates! I borrowed a handle from J Mack and was able to get it scanned. I cleaned up the scan data and redefined the holes. I am going to upload this to Shapeways... I know it is not the most affordable option and honestly not the best solution but it will be available either way, and it will be up there without any mark up. This should be a good "one to one" option to get you up and running, however it will likely require drilling and using some bolts to reuse the existing "frame" portion and just replacing the handle itself.

That being said, I am still working on the design portion for a complete assembled solution. Once the design looks good, I will be 3d printing to verify and then I will likely be outsourcing the production. Here are some pics of the process so far. FYI the new cad version is not yet complete. Pic order (Scanning > One to one cleaned up Scan > New redesign)
