I get it, It is an added step of difficulty. I will try to find a solution to make it a little bit easier to purchase, it sucks that Shapeways is so expensive.

There are two "parts" to this, just like the original handle assembly. I sell the digital file for 5 bucks just to cover the test prints and design work. The files get downloaded as a ".step" file from cults3d.com > upload the .step files to craftcloud3d.com > choose material and finish > enter shipping info/ payment and then a short while later... some shiny new parts get delivered.

It is not quite as smooth and streamlined as a finished part, but it is several hundred cheaper than the next cheapest option, so hopefully this works for the bulk of people....maybe someone can do a group buy, which would also bring the price down!

With all that being said...I do have one of the test handle assemblies that is doing me no good. It was tested on J Mack's FJ and then removed. It may need the hole cleaned up for the push/pull rod, and might be a hair snug on one of the mounting hole, but it is totally functioning otherwise. I can sell it for $120 shipped if anybody is interested?

I will take it , PM me Pay pal ? thanks

That finish looks plenty smooth to chrome if you really wanted the original shiny look. Great price to get it printed out of 316.
When @NickAtEndMotive was over to test fit the handle we were messing around with some other parts he made tapping threads and polishing, this stainless polishes easily and looks pretty good for the little bit of effort we put into the sample part we tried. I'm guessing if a guy put some real effort into it there wouldn't be any reason to chrome in unless you wanted to color match existing chrome on a show pig.

Alright...sorry about the long update, but I have some good news!

I was able to test the finished parts on @J Mack FJ and it worked great. I originally planned on having these made myself and just selling them all finished and ready to go, however I am preoccupied and easily distracted. So I uploaded the parts to a digital sales platform so you can download the finished files and get them made through CraftCloud3d.com. They offer the same service as Shapeways but at a fraction of the price. I have been on the hunt for the most economical option for a while and have decided this is the best route. I can still upload the parts to Shapeways as well, but the cost is multiple times more.

One of the changes I made on this versus my earlier design was changing the threaded mounting hole into a 1/4-20 threaded stud and using a sheet metal nut (push nut/pal nut) to make up for rough threads that 3d printing usually results in. The factory spring will still need to be reused.

Here is the link to the files to purchase/download and then you can head over to CraftCloud upload the 2 parts, decide on which material and finish and then just place the order. I have a more complete part list with numbers in the download file.

As of right now the quote to get a single handle assembly printed and delivered is only $181.50 and does get cheaper with additional quantities.

I also have a 10% off referral discount code to use as well! - REFZBA9GDSK (I have no idea on how many uses are available)

Thank you for providing the step files, truly awesome.

Great work on this, and nice to see you took artistic license with the stud and clip to improve assembly and function.

I still have a pile of the springs I recreated, too, so if the old is broken/missing/gross hit me up.

That was all @J Mack idea!

Glad you have a solution for the spring, I did not get very far with trying to make/source a replacement.

I received the printed part, quality is ok, way stronger than I expected it to be at least. Print orientation is going to have a large impact on the alignment of the thru bolts. I am just using some random hardware for the time being and need to order the correct m8 shoulder bolts still. The mounting holes were originally going to be tapped m6 threads however I changed the design last minute...I planned on pressing in a m6 stud, now I am leaning towards just making it large enough to insert a bolt and weld it in place.... Due to cost and overall difficulty to produce with the resources I have on hand, I might just look into the handle portion alone without the "base" body....still a work in progress I guess.

This is absolutely outstanding. Thanks a ton for your work on this. Your instructions for ordering and your preplanning on the solution for the stud bolts (pal nuts) were spot on. Other than a little cleanup on the holes, it went right in using the original spring and shoulder bolts. I could have gone a little further on polishing out some of the 3D printing imperfections but that wasn't a huge concern for me. Thank you so much, Nick.
