FJ40 tie rod

This guy is offering an FJ40 tie rod but states it is 30.5" long. My '75 measures 42" long.


I think this is some other part of the stock steering. Anyody know which part?

Drag link or relay rod.

not sure, I would go out and mesure but it is raining. The relay rod goes from the center arm to the right front tire, and the drag link connects the steering box to the center arm both are shorter then the tie rod. just a guess I would say that it is the Relay Rod, the Drag Link is the shorter of the three.

If you could measure them sometime and post up I'd appreciate it. No rush. I'm saginaw so no can doey.

This seller on Ebay insists it a tie rod after asking them to verify it twice.

I bought all new OEM from CDan for my 12/74, they measure relay rod sleeve is 30 1/4 tie rod sleeve is 40 1/2 and the drag link sleeve is 29 1/2.

Just measured and I got the same numbers.

So @ 30.5" this is a relay rod. Thanks.

Just goes to show buyer beware and know what you're bidding on.

Edit: sold with buy it now. I hope whoever bought this wanted a relay rod and not a tie rod as advertised.
