this thread should be put in the classics section.....if there is one....
Im 28.........wished i was lots older to see these come out new.....in there day......and there still strong....ive fallen in love with mine all over again..............woops..a hj47 trayback........mmm if i only had a time machine.......emmet get me that delorian.....he he he..

Agreed, but you don't have to go back in time. Just find one that's been properly restored. You would be amazed how big your grin gets behind a perfect rig. No rattles, quiet, smooth....everyone stares. Better than crack. It BECOMES a time machine.

Amazing tread guys, cheers:beer::beer::beer:

This thread never gets old. I can stare at these photos everyday. I'd rather drool over these pics any day than pics of restored 40's. These photos have all the history before it gets sand blasted, modded and painted away.

Thanks for posting photos.

BRAVO!!!

BRAVO, GENTLEMEN ! BRAVO..

By the sweat on my back; By the blood I have shed for my country at war I promise this.

My kids one day in the distant future will post pics of me and them working on the cruiser.

For good measure my youngest is named Cruz but his nickname is Cruiser

TLC "back in the day"

Thank you all for posting pictures. This is our TLC Tradition and History!

I would like to post an almost 30 years old pict:
It was in April 1980 when my High School made a cultural excursion to the East Mediterranean Island of Cyprus.
As in my country of origin, Greece, Land Cruisers haven't been imported till...1997 (Series 90 and 100), it was the first time that I could see this legendary vehicle. I could even touch it, take some picts of it and dream one day I would own one.
As you can see folks, it's a police car and as Cyprus has been a British Crown Colony, it's a Right Hand Drive (the right side of the road?).
It's a brand new FJ40, certainly less than 1 year old. No free wheeling hubs and probably no Power Steering. The paint seems to be Nordic Blue and alterations due to patrol duty seem also to be minimal.
It's been after several others 4x4s and 27 years that I could last acquire and restore my first lC, a BJ42.

Keep posting vintage picts!

Lion anyone?

Somebody asked for a lion. We had this fellow eat our spare tire in South Africa in 2006. His partner popped our left rear tire at the same time. We drove out of the park on a flat and had to borrow a spare from the game preserve to drive home. Vehicle is a non vintage 2005 LC Prado, but the lion is vintage.

our 40 family

I love these personal, recollections. The FJ legacy began in my family with my younger brother, who graduated in 74. He picked up a used, 74 FJ40, around the year after he graduated HS, which became his college ride. In the years that followed, all 4 of the brothers owned a 40 at one time or another. I'm on my 3rd Cruiser, and other then my brothers widow, the only brother still driving one. I think of him everytime I drive mine, which is everyday, now.
