I found a couple of non-off-road pics of my old '75 FJ40 taken in about 1982 but haven't posted enough to upload them. I'll post them as soon as I can.

AWESOME thread, i had a pic, i tried to find in my hunting scrapbooks, from years past. Had a friend of mine form East TN. Who was hunting with me and i shot 2 big deer that morning , and we tied them on top of his fj40 ( mid 70's model white in color) this was in the early 80's, as we drove back to my house ( he was down in Ga hunting with me) the further we drove the more the blood started running down the windshield. Then he turned on the wipers:rolleyes:...............nice:eek:..............man i wish i could find that pic.:D

Not great photos, but the only ones I could find of the '75 40. These are from about 1982. Fortunately, I'm not in either of the pics.

When you had a big family and down in Colombia South america and also you live 9000 feet above seal level and want a family vacation on the beach 14 hour trip, well there was only one car up to the job . TOYOTA FJ43 1971 picture age 39 years old .
My father On the picture bottom left (12 years on the photo) now 51 uncles and aunt al over the truck grand parents red shirt and blue swim suit (not everyone on the picture are my relatives for that we will need a Fj47!!!).
Enjoy
This tread rocks!

OK. ................Beach photos.

This is "Laurie's cruiser" on a "combined Gordon WA & Baker Perkins social club fishing trip" where we camped overnight on a stretch of coast north of Perth (Western Australia) circa 1980

PS. Ignore the dates on the photos. As I've mentioned before - These photos were taken by snapping images projected from old colour slides.

Best thread ever! Lets keep it near the top!

My mom and I on the back of my mom's 40 in around 1980/81? I think.
What started it all! She got it new, it lasted a few years until the midwest salt ate it up.
I was sooo bummed to see it go! Can anyone verify the year of the cruiser? I was thinking 79 or 80???

pretty sure square bezel makes it an 80+

No one in my family knows for sure lol.
I zoomed in on the front plate and its got 79 in the corner.
Do know it was one of the only new ones in the midwest at the time. The dealer would not budge on the price at all. If it did not sell the dealers out west were paying a premium to get any 40's shipped out to them they could get!

Great thread!

I believe that '79 was the first year with that bezel.

Looks like some good memories.

Those are the only rims I'd put on my FJ, besides the factory steelies. Wonder if they're still available . . .

[the rest of your story was too sad to quote]

Saw a set of these rims on Craigs recently, the guy couldn't give them away ($75 for four)! Yup, 6 on 5.5 too ...

Ditto on the story. :frown:

Awesome thread! Please keep 'em comin'!
