ECC is cracked.... Plainly obvious. Behind clutch pedal. All that f*ing work. Did not realize the ECC would have anything to do with it. As soon as I opened it up plainly cracked. Will let you know how that works out......

Yep, that did it. New ECC board, behind under clutch. Fan works!!

Good thread I just discovered. I removed my carb fan because of the snorkle and am wondering if one of the 76 Cali fans would work on this setup and restore performance. Any one have this setup? Thanks.
Mine was solved when I had the solder connections "reflowed" on the carb fan relay (passenger side in cab). It seems vibration loosens connections where the plug actually is soldered to the circuit board. Maybe wiring loom vibrates enough to weaken? Anyway, it's back working like when I bought my baby in '78! Didn't work for about 5 years, but didn't notice any running difference. Bugged me though! And I hated having wasted space under hood with something dead...
Dont know if this is in the engine manual, because I dont have that one yet; but this may be some info not seen elsewhere. For the 78 model, 40 and 55.
