Truck went back to the painter for some touch up and fixes with runs, fish eyes, etc. they had it for about a month. Got it back yesterday and the battery is a dead hammer. When I use a jump box and get it started, it won't idle at all unless the choke is pulled all the way out. The question would be will a dead battery cause low or no idle? I've had it on a charger for a day to bring it back up but haven't messed with it or driven it yet. Only drove it after jumping it to get it back home. Maybe 10 miles. What I'm trying to figure out is this normal and will correct it self once fully charged, or did somebody at the paint shop screw with my carb while they had it, and I need to do some ass chewing with the body shop. When it went in, it was starting perfectly and ran like a top.

Battery is an odyssey only a few months old.

J,

Does everything else work? Tail lights, AC fan, radio, running lights? A blown fusible link will let you start the engine, but only with the choke pulled. All the above will not work though.

Without choke pulled all the way out, nothing will function unless the RPM's are up. Once RPM's drop or foot off the gas, headlights go out and everything just fades to nothing and the truck dies. Can hear the headlight relay under the left side of the dash squacking from low voltage. Going to work on it this afternoon and see if things are back to normal.

What causes the fuseable lot blow? Other than its old. Bad and unlucky timing that it wasn't in my hands when it happened?

So, battery is fully charged and tests good under a load. Truck will start as normal with choke and a little pedal. After a few mins I try and back off the choke and almost immediately starts to die out. Should I play with the idle set screw or test the link ?

Checking things over, I decided to slightly adjust the carb idle screw. Heard a hissing. Had a vac leak at the PCV valve , the T right above it. Either a hose got knocked off from a dent guy, or just bad timing and bad luck that a rubber cap got brittle and fell off while the painter had it. I capped it and runs a great. .... but, I did find a hose that is floating around. It is connect to the "filter" on the firewall on the passenger side. Would that connect to the PCV valve T fitting?

After many years of storing this OEM beauty, finally took the time to install after the seam sealer was put on the hood braces.

And finally found a set of these!! Headliner to metal transition on the C pillar

To clarify, the pieces are not metal but plastic. The metal is the body of the truck, without the plastic trim under the windows that is stock on US 60s. These small trim pieces are from a JDM 60. Tricky to find. I wish I had a 3D printer.

Oops my bad. Re read that. Not metal. :slap: Very cool though!

Another discovery - driverside floorboard is soaked - jute and carpet . Has a musty odor so I'm guessing it's been wet awhile. When the windshield was installed back in February or march, they didn't use any butyl on the seal. Just OEM rubber gasket and glass. Was told that it would leak, and it is. I'm so sick of people not doing the job they were paid for!

Can somebody tell me what this threaded hole is for?
