He was pretty consumed with getting it factory looking, and it came out great! A brief write up and a bunch of pictures can be checked here if you are interested My Hawaiian HJ60 Refresh, Maintenance and Good Times

I've been following your progress....rig is looking great...love the color change....I did something similar with mine...I should have replaced my headliner when all the glass was out (original is in good condition so I decided against)...though it would have been great to sound deadening. Probably will re-visit in a year or two.

Here comes the Walrus - my 87 FJ60 build thread

Got the front and rear glass in this week. Used a professional installer. Didn't want to screw this one up. No chrome lock strip. OEM rubber around the glass. Went with a brand new front glass and reused the rear.

when i had my windshield re-installed after paint the installer refused to put in the rubber locking strip - afraid he'd break the glass. all windows were easy to do except the windshield...those bottom corners were a PITA

More progress. Got the carpet in and seatbox mounted. Also mounted the Cruiser Crap console. Mounted lots of track for tie downs. Probably overkill but I like options. Still have a bit of wiring to add but it's only big ideas I may never get to. Would like to have lighting inside the console and seatbox but a flashlight will work wonders. Probably should just keep things simple.

The console is EXCEPTIONAL quality. Highly recommend it.

The seat bottoms are from SOR. They feel great! Can't wait to take a trip with these seats.

Next step is door panels and bumpers mounted and it'll be ready to roll. Trail Tailor Rock sliders and mini sliders go on and roof rack. Hopefully next week. (Need to get the vacuum out too!)

Console is awesome

Anybody every try a 100 series tailgate handle on a 60? Looks similar. Just wanna confirm before I spring for one to just try. Bad pic. Sorry.

Just finding this thread now, great looking truck!!

Wanted to add a reference of my experience getting a new windshield and OEM seal. The installer I used (general glass shop) only put a small bead of black sealer where the glass and rubber meet. But, water would leak/weep through to the inside corners of my seals which then would then drip to the floor. They even redid the install, but no luck, the leak remained.

My solution was to remove the thin bead of sealant applied by the installer and apply a clear sealant between the glass and the seal, lifting up the seal lip as I went along injecting sealant. Not saying your installer didn't do it right or better than my general shop (they probably never saw a FJ60 before), but that step was required to get mine to stop leaking. If I recall, that step is noted in a factory installation note/manual? Could be wrong,

Keep up the great work!

I think the sealant is needed between the glass and rubber seal and the rubber seal and metal windshield frame. I believe that is the instruction in the FSM.

At this point it's still in the shop and I'm driving it very little. Definitely has not been out in the rain yet. I guess I'll find out once I go to the car wash.

Edit: living in Missouri, made it through a monsoon last weekend with no windshield leaks.

Getting close to having the 60 "finished".... for now anyway. I guess they are never finished. Got my Trail Tailor stuff mounted up. Roof rack, rock sliders. Mini sliders. Rear swing out ladder and fuel can rack. GREAT quality stuff!

Slider pics. I live on a gravel road so it's tricky to get clean dirt free pics.

And mirror gaskets. And an extendable light off the rear ladder. Cool stuff Jason. Thanks.

Got a window question. Before the rebuild, my crank handles were pretty tough to crank up windows. So, I put in new regulators, all new rubber on the tracks, new rubber everywhere... and crank is still very hard to roll up. To the point of feeling like the handle might break. Any advice on what to check or adjust to make things smooth?

Bump. ^^

So I guess everybody has perfect windows] crank handles after all the rubber is replaced and regulators replaced? Nothing?

I had a tough time with my drivers side when I first got it. Replacing the regulator with an aftermarket from SOR did the trick. I didn't replace all the channels at that time but it worked effortlessly compared to before.

That makes me think that perhaps something is off or bent or the channel or regulator mechanism? Have you taken the door panel off and attached the handle to work the mechanism and see if there is any resistance anywhere?

Seems like the drag is coming from the wiper rubber. I replaced the original piece with the chrome with the straight black piece on the inside and outside. Regulator is a forman and brand new. Will have to start taking stuff off and try and narrow it down
