All in the quest to keep the horizontal surfaces clear.
Made a bracket on the front for the new palm Planishing tool, you can see it on the left in the picture.

How do you use the green tool? Freehand planishing? Dolley at the bottom? Easy to control?

Both tools are for planishing, the yellow tool needs a valve to control the force. The green tool is very controlable with the lever. Like you say use a dolly on the opposite side.
I plan to make a set of nylon covers for the green tool with different shapes.

Gearing up for the 72” belt grinder build and the motor driven bead roller.
I have been collecting parts for them. Still waiting on the motors and I have to collect the vfd from Ives.

I wanted to make it easier to grind my tungsten.

Now I get the same tip every time.

I ordered 2 of these lights for the lathe and the mill.

unfortunately one is not operating as it should so they will sent me a new led driver.

First draft for the belt grinder.
Here is the first set up for the belt.

Added a second work light to the mill. As I get older the world seems to get darker.😉

With all the add ons on the right side of the column it is not easy to find a good spot.

Started with the base frame for the 72” belt grinder.

I have decided to make a light boxed frame as it will be stiffer than an unboxed one made from bigger steel profiles.

Here is how I fine tuned the height of the main bar, this is going to be used for the grinding tables.

And welded for now. It is tricky to weld 2mm wall and 5 mm wall profile together.

For stiffness two vertical braces are added, it might need two diagonals on the opposite side bit that depends on total weight balance.

This construction is surprisingly light.

Not much done lately, waiting on parts for the Mini.
Started with the hinges for the sander.
Rough cuts.

With the brackets at the correct size the holes were drilled and everything mocked up.

Next I welded a stud to the counter bracket.
Made sure it was welded in straight.

Hi Michael, So glad to see you back at it! 😄
Just having some medical issues that make working in the shop a bit harder.
Finishing up the drawers for the cabinets in the shop first now.

I had an interesting challenge on the Mini fire wall. When welding the last three openings in the fire wall the upper rim schrank quite a bit. Stretching it with a hammer was not something I was looking forward too. (This picture is taken after most of the stretching was already done.)
AA039D8F-06DB-49AB-B4F7-8D0789FB1D5F.jpeg

Then I remembered I had a schrinker/stretcher laying around.
This was not usable as is but using a piece of angle iron made it usable for this task. Just drilled 2 holes and mounted it on the bottom using 2 M10 bolts.
2B5203B4-B473-4378-B3F7-8E8ACEE5C335.jpeg

This did not work as expected, the upper window frame made It impossible to use.
After adapting the angle iron it worked like a charm.

The results were perfect. Here with clamps on it but it was close without them.
