Dude...what the F? I bought my rig in Oct 2013. I think you had like 4 or 5 pages at that time. I read through them thinking this Jose guy is crazy Monstalining and whatnot. Granted I've skipped about 40 pages (I think I quit at GM 1 tons), but jeez you've built a serious rig! Just have to give props...LEGIT!

Nice welds there. Fyi. My single swing with 37's sucks. Don't use that 2x2 they give you for main bar. It twists around like a pretzel. Vibrates the whole truck without a ratchet strap to top of hatch. was fine with 315's. No good now though. I might redo with a 2x4 instead.

Thanks! And good to know about the swingout. Definitely don't want any rattles. I do have some 3/16" thick 2x3, think that would work? Is the spindle shell tall enough for 2x4?

Thank you sir. Monstaliner, man that seems like ages ago! This thing sure has changed a lot in 2yrs. Wonder what it'll look like in another 2.

Yeah my tire carrier with a 31 made of 1.5"x1.5" 3/16" moves around a lot, I can't imagine with a 37.

I wonder if that's because it attaches to the swingout with only 1 arm, while most others are a hoop of some sorts? The tire carrier on my old bumper didn't wiggle one bit. I was planning on making something similar to this on my 4x4Labs bumper

Well, guess I should have waited till today to post pics. Didn't know the springs were coming today. PAC Racing Springs. 14"/16", 200/350lb. Orange because I like loud and in-your-face.

Spindle shell is 4 1/4". 4x4labs should upgrade to 2x4. It's crazy how much that 2x2 twists.

Just a tiny bit of progress. Waiting on some parts for the swing-down tire carrier.

Double latching that bad boy...

Yup - I had a latch pop loose when I slid backwards into Finny's rig on the ice and the spring pin was the only thing that held the swingout closed. They come in real handy.

Where did you source your latches ect...

McMaster Carr has them but at a $$$

The latch came with Luke's kit, but yeah they're pricey. Last time I checked the big Destaco latches were about $60+. The spring pins I got on Amazon though.

Ouch, my neck hurts.....

Well crap, guess I gotta take off that 30-incher :flipoff2:

He's saying the 2x2 arm twists... that'll be a function of the mounting point distance to the spindle shell. It takes a pretty ridiculous amount of torque to deform a 2x2 square tube of that wall thickness. Even if the spare tire weighed 200 lbs and the center of mass was 24" above the centerline of the tube, that's 400 ft/lb of torque under 1g of acceleration or braking... you could be ridiculous and say it's subjected to 5gs of lateral acceleration and you've got 2000 ft/lbs of torque on it. Still not enough to plastically deform it. I hang my 37 off the back of it and it moves less than the body does.

So sorta related but not, I'm selling my dual swing 4X4 labs "ARMS" with tire carrier, ladder and 3 can holder if anyone is looking for arms for one of Luke's 80's bumpers.

Haven't posted anything yet, but just floating it out there. All part of the "de expo'ing" headed back towards my original direction with the rig. ;-)
