Do you feel too close to the steering wheel?

I have noticed in test driving a few LC's I am kinda surprised that they don't slide back further. I am not exceptionaly tall (5'-11") and I don't roll the streets like a thug but in my opinion I am too close.
I am curious if any of you 6 footers have found a way to get the seat further back.

Rick (LandTank) has made a set of machined blocks that set the seat back some, you may want to contact him and see if he still has any available.

Supposedly manual seats go back further,

I am 5'-11" also I wish the seat went back a little further for pedal but want the steering wheel closer to me for a more relaxed driving position, It gets better if I set the column all the way down but then the wheel blocks the gauges

I guess I drive like a thug.

Thug driver as well; 6'5"

i'm 6'4", and don't really have any problems. i guess it does force me to sit gangsta-style, though. when I look out the side window, i'm looking out the back door.

It doesn't take long to get used to the driving position.
I'm 6'2" and can manage to tuck myself in behind the wheel fairly well.

:D

We should hit him up to make up a bunch of these and sell em. Id definitely be in for a set if priced right.

Also, how hard do you think it would be to move the steering column back a little? Like raven, i like the wheel a little closer for comfort....Anybody done that yet?

I'd be in for these bolt on brackets too. I kinda don't like how they lift the seat up another inch so if I had some made on my own I would probably hack the OG seat bracket so it didn't have the down tab and weld it directly to a new L bracket rather than a Z bracket. This way I wouldn't need to buy a bolt and the seat wouldn't go up that extra inch.
See picture to envision my idea...

you have to lift theseat up in the front so the motor clears the floor. But that bracket is more than what is needed. I still have some brackets available but the install is more integrated into the chair than bolting some angle iron onto the feet.

you need to separate the rails and grind off some limiting nubs , coutersink a bolt and a relief on an edge on the front feet.
A drill with a couple of cheap attachments and you're good to go. The chair still mounts to the original spots in the floor but is raised 3/4" in front for the motor to pass over the floor.

I've sold alot of these and got one call for not being able to slide the rails back together and one because the installer didn't match the rail to the pic in the instructions. Both situations where easilly straightened out.

More work than the above pic but it looks almost factory and keeps the chair as close to the floor in the front as possible.

PM me and I'll e-mail the instructions to you when i get home if you would like.

I am 6'2" and sit closer to the steering wheel than the stock brackets will allow. You can't wheel leaning back looking out of the second row of windows :flipoff2:

I'm not looking out the back window for wheeling, just daily driving. when I wheel, I get up close and pay attention.

Well, I picked up my truck last night and I paid closer attention to the seat this time and it didn't feel quite as close as I remembered from my test drives. I have been currently driving my Dad's 90' 5.0 Mustang so that may have had something to do with the close feel?? I am going to give it a week and see how it feels.
Last night I lowered the back part of the seat and raised the front and it felt alright. Post with pics of new ride going up as soon as I upload them to my website.

i'm 6' and to be honest, i think it sits perfect. I don't like having to reach for the steering wheel.

I'm OK with the steering wheel, but it would be nice to have another 2 inches of legroom.
