since I am working on the tranny tunnel, the question came up of what gear selector options I have?? This is a A343f from a 2000 100 series landcruiser. @Tank5 informed me that the later tranny, A750f was put into 4runners that had a cable driven gear selector in center console, so wondering if that would work in this car, or if the a343f was in anything else that would of had cable driven selector. I think that I answered that part of the question that this transmission was just in 80 and 100 series cars. Anyway, this would give me much flexibility in where I locate the shifter.

Thoughts?

Was able to take the day off so started making some major progress.. first step was to finish the passenger foot well

Then there’s a sensor on the transfer case that was not playing nice with the transmission tunnel.

Up Next was to adapt the brake pedal... I chopped in part of an 80 Series pedal. As were switching to automatic. Just tack weld for now... Will clean it up and weld it better when we get closer to the end.

Next up would install the steering wheel and the seat to test how we did on increasing legroom. I compared it to my FJ 40 that I’ve push the seat back several inches and very similar data, when the seat extends past the rear by about 4 inches

All in all awesome day. I also started working on the driver side at the tranny tunnel... although, I was having problems on figuring out where to locate the shifters and how to mount that exactly.... and then my local friend @cjmoon confirmed he had 100 section he’s parting out so I ran out to cut out part of his tranny tunnel as the sun set.

Cut worked well. On the vertical, I cut halfway on the b pillar flange.

Been looking at paint colors... trying to figure out what color to go with. Down to these two.... Thoughts? Most of body will be monstaliner, so not glossy. Dash and other parts (latches, jambs) will be shot in normal paint.

I think I would go with the tan since you are goung to monster liner it. In the event the color faded in the sun I feel like the tan would be less noticeable. It would probably look cleaner too when you get it dirty.

I think your stuck with grey to avoid those of us that already are shooting paint! Looking good!

Back to replacing the rusty sections. My plan is to do it in three pieces left right center with doing little more than half of the support for the body mount so that it doesn’t have a chance of moving. The cuts will be about where my finger is.

to make sure nothing moves I got a piece of 3/16 steel to weld the outside as a temporary support
