I am glad I'm not tall.

Got up early today and first thing was to paint that front body mount

then I cut the panel that will become the new foot well

last year I made a jig for my press break to be able to punch raised areas into panels, so I started laying out how to do this. The main issue is that my press is only 19 inches wide

here’s the full layout... I had to cut off the bottom 4 inches of the pattern to fit in the press so I’ll have to weld that on later, but it was amazing how quickly and easily did it. The only issue was that afterwards I had to shrink the metal as I’m using thick gauge steel

After a little time shrinking the metal, time to take it to the brake.

then time for a test fit...

Bent over an edge to weld to the outside wall, and another fitting...

First step was to weld the bottom section back on. Then bent the center side to match the tranny tunnel and welded captured nuts in.

Started tearing out pass side— this car was right hand drive.

Then found some dirt... and cut out bottom section.

the floor on this side may need to be replaced. rust is pretty bad. I hit with a pick for a while and found some soft spots, so cut those out.

Question for the masses... the bottom corners of the passenger side mount have some good cancer, but only on the rear half. So to be clear we are talking about a 4" section at the 90 degree corner just on the back side of the mount. forgot my camera this morning...

Not totally bad, just some spots were thin enough that the descaler deformed the metal. Honestly, I was amazed with all that dirt in there, that they were not totally bad.

So, I am thinking about bending some 1/8 to fit the section and welding it over this bad section, then from the outside burn it good to that new metal.

Thoughts?

text me a picture.. need to know what spot your looking at.. if it is the "Front" cab mount then it has a lower section that pooled water and debris in it which can become thin.. it is NOT the portion that the cab mount and frame meet.. so your plan sounds good.

Correct, this mount connects to the frame on the outside of the mount, so this side just supports the floorpan.

I think I have a good mount from a cut u cowl. Pay for shipping and you can have it. I need to confirm it is in good condition and I still have it. Let me know.

I appreciate that! I can't imagine a better person to buy a project from.

Before I take you up on that, I might have one down the hill that @tornadoalleycruiser left a few years back when we stole the brace for a brake booster.

If i swap this, how best to replace it? should I just cut to the inside of the frame mount -- , thus replacing about 75% of it?

If I was doing it I would probably drill all the spot welds to remove the entire brace and replace it.

No worries let me know if you need that piece I will track it down while you figure it out just incase.

That is the driverside correct?

Pass side. And I don't have a replacement. If you have one, I will take you up on the offer.

I should have it. I am working but will check when I get home.
