Back to business on hand. I placed an order for a rear sill from Awl_TEQ so that I can get that issue taken care of. I am waiting for a pair of aprons I purchased to arrive so I can drop everything off at the sand blaster (2 sets of doors, tire carrier and aprons).

I picked up my parts from the sand blaster and boy was I glad I didn't take that project on by myself. I found a bunch of good old boys in Gainesville GA that did a good job for cheap.

Allison Sandblasting in Gainesville GA in case anyone is in need.. They blasted two sets of doors, fender aprons and my good. I am pulling other bits and pieces for my last load.

I added two racks for storage space. You know the type, one for all of the tools and one for all of the things you purchased to install on the rig.

And finally, I tore down the rig so I could box up the old fenders and get them ready to ship. I found some issues with my bib so I am going to have to fix it once it is back from the blaster. I will do some 'proper' frame clean up while I have the access.

Here are a few lousy phone pics of her sad state of dismemberment.

$150 - 2 sets of doors, tire carrier and aprons. The doors would have been cheaper if a petroleum based liner wasn't used inside the door.

$85 - hood and hinges.

Got the doors cut down today. I am still trying to figure out my approach for the bottoms of the doors. I may be trying my hand at some good old fashioned 'tin knocking' to fabricate the bottoms.

You think you'll remember where a specific bolt/part came from, but 6 months from now they'll all look the same.

Update from Oklahoma City! I will be enjoying the sites for the next several weeks while working on a consulting gig. So what does a cruiser head do? I made some time to visit Cruiser Corps to pick up some odds and ends. I met Mike, the owner, while I got a brief tour of the shop. Nice guys!

Here is a few pics of what they have out back...

Needless to say I am sure to make a few more parts runs over the next several weeks...

I am well beyond the point of no return. I started bagging and tagging groups of parts, bolts, miscellaneous but,.. Too little too late. My garage looks like a war zone. Too many simultaneous projects going on at one time. I know I am preaching to the choir.

Time for a mini update: my travel schedule has severely limited my garage time since my weekends are booked with family time and honey do lists. However, I was able to sneak a few hours with the 40.

I have started the removal process of the rear sill. I was able to cut out the sill center and remove the 4 body mounts (with only one I had to hack out). I found a set of rear quarter patches locally that I plan to use as a back up if my home made ones don't come out to my liking.

The rear quarters have been cut and the sill has been extracted. I have mocked up the new rear sill and will have to modify the new top sill cover to fit in place.

I have been balancing this project with my household to do list so it seems like it's very slow going. So far i am very pleased with how it's coming out but to be honest i am worried about welding the sheet-metal.

I got one rear quarter cut and tacked today. I swear by the copper backing plate and butt clamps i bought from Eastwood. My first attempt of welding sheet metal was ok.
