That's more than a day worth of work in rust repair.
No magic hidden kill switch fix for that, either! But if I know only one thing about Dave it's that he's the anti-me when it comes to projects and he moves fast.

I'd say about 2 weeks ;)

Challenge accepted. When I start, I’ll time it😬

I might stare at it for a week to figure out the best way to get after it, but the clock starts when the cutting starts.

Would be quite the feat, and would love to see it! Inside forum joke, not sure if you were around, but @jamesurq can surely explain it :)

That's a lot of rust for sure. May the rust Gods be with you.

Has anyone out there done a rear seat swap on a 60/62? If so, what did you use? I’ve seen one done with Disco 2 seats and really liked the idea of rear passengers (the kids) having there own seat. This truck is completely stripped down, so it’s open to total creativity.

Not that I've seen, not recently at least. I have seen people put OEM split rear bench in, but those are hard to come by.

FJ80 owners... Could somebody take a moment and get me a measurement of the width of the 2nd row seats?

If you need a set , I have some you can have. Mine are in storage or I'd check.

@forrest5000 That would be awesome and immensely appreciated. I can't find anything really definitive on the internet, except one site that listed the 2nd row "hip room" for an FJ62 and an FJ80 as the same. Don't know how accurate that is though. Looking at pics though, the 80 seats seem to be roughly in the same spot as the 60 seat.

Oh yeah...this would be for replacing the stock bench seat in an '85 FJ60. I have a vision to give the kids more separate seating areas and don't want to give up the idea. I've seen one done with the 2nd row from an LR3, but you have to find the configuration that had 35/30/35 split....not as common as the 40/60. It also simplifies one of my rust repairs if I use seats that don't rely on the wheel-well mounted hinge.

I have some tan leather second row in my basement from my ‘97. With COVID they are on the way out. Need another set?

The width is 54” on the bottom of the seat.

Shoulder is the same too.

These are gray cloth , in great shape . Hate to trash them.

I also gave the blue /grey older rear seat from a 60 in the garage attic. Can’t vouch for the condition as birds fly through there. I’ll check if you need that.

Is that 54" at the widest part or the narrower part at the hinge?

Thanks, but I have 2 FJ60 seat backs and 1 bench in storage right now myself!

Widest. I will go get the narrow part. I need another beer from the garage anyway.

Narrow including the plastic covers on the hinge is 50 1/4 inches. Let me know if I can measure anything else.
