Like many, my 97 Collectors Edition has a few dash lights out. I actually had it apart not long ago and addressed most with OEM bulbs from my local dealer(at about 7$ a bulb) and did 5 or so including the D drive light. Gotta take it apart again to fix heat/air back lighting and my O/D off bulb. Thinking about going all LED (for longevity and brightness) and getting as close to factory look as I can. Any wisdom out there?

LEDs are so cheap you can get a bag of them for the cost of one bulb at the dealer. I switched but went through several different types to find one I liked. You can also go to a pick n pull and get all the bulbs you want for cheap. They are pretty much the same on all Toyotas.

Test them before you put dash back together.
Mine like to flicker.
They look way better than the bulbs, but both are visible.

Replacing bulbs this week....for the cost difference LEDs make way more sense....and they are clearer and brighter. As I replace mine I will keep a set of links so others will know exactly what bulbs work. Some of the LED sites are complicated....but I think I was making them complicated. My cluster lights should be in today. Will report back.

Just checked and my AC lights will be in today as well. I ordered green and blue to see which I liked better.

I replaced the AC lights with green...I decided against blue since the cluster was going to be blue. I like the green in the AC bc it isn't super bright....looks good.

In the instrument cluster? No. they all work so I just left them. I think I have the correct bulbs for them but I just didn't get into it tonight. I tried to replace the key ring bulb with a 74 but I could not get a new bulb to seat at all. Might try it again some other time. I did replace the floor shifter bulb bc mine was out.

@sleepycruiser - looks great. Would you email me a link and list of bulbs you got? Any desire to receive a bunch of beverage of choice and help me do mine if I drive over the hill to you? My email is prince k @ jcschools . org - no spaces. Many thanks!

What is the bulb number for the the shifter in the instrument cluster. My reverse light is out.

I've read that all LED on DC 12V are going to flicker sooner or later .. mines are on the sooner side of the spectrum .. so wonder if there is any " brand " anti flickering .?

Got all my bulbs ordered...as well as to get two friends trucks fixed up...From www.autoillumination.com Hope to get em all done soon. Decided on original incandescent on two survivor original trucks and LEDs on the adventure build. Might use LEDs on all three in places. Thanks for all your help,
