Today was supposed to be a nice day to work on the cruiser since the wife was cooking Thanksgiving dinner all day. We both had to work on Thanksgiving. Started out good by getting my sway bar bushings and new TREs for the tie rod in the mail. Thanks Beno. It was a nice day so I was going to pull the truck out of the garage and work on it outside. Pulled it out and noticed coolant dripping from the front so back in the garage it went. Put a bucket under the leak and went ahead and installed the bushing while I stewed over where the leak was coming from.

Bad bushing. Not only it was 18 years old but it had my CCV tube blowing oily mist on it which was eating it up quickly. CCV rerouted so good to go for years to come now.

These were the old ones. One on the right was the one soaking up oil.

And now for the photo that ruined my day. After several cleanings and restarts to trace the leak I found it on the bottom right of the radiator. It is leaking where the aluminum silver part meets with the bottom black part. It will only leak while the truck is running. This was a brand new Toyota OEM radiator put on during the conversion. Looks I will be pulling it out to figure out if I can get it fixed or not.

I took the radiator out today which gave me some nice views of intercooler and how its installed. May help others if they go the same route.

I also noticed this today. I guess the PO had the AC condenser replaced at some point.

Thanks for the pics.looking @ getting a larger intercooler by spring or early summer. The one I have doesn't do too well in the heat. There's an AC Line that may have to be relocated. What kind of intercooler do you have,, dimensions?

Its a Mishimoto. It doesn't have a part number on it. I need to measure it so I can go to their site and find out what I have to put the part # in my records.

Photo of the thermostat housing. I don't see a degree stamp on the thermostat. From what I read is that you shouldn't use anything other than the Cummins. Word on the net is that the store brands are not precise and open randomly usually on the high end. Next to my work I have a Freightliner service place which sells parts for all the big dogs, Cummins, Cat, etc. I will have to stop by this week to see what they have. I would like a 180 thermostat so it opens up before the fans at 185.

Thanks, surprised its that in tact still. I guess maybe I could have fit a similar intercooler afterall... Oh well

Looking at the specs on the Mishimoto site it looks like I have the Universal G Line.

Hmm I am not sure I trust that CFM rating, even Bell that produces some of the best cores in the industry rate a 17.5"x12"(don't make an 11.75")x3" core at 895 CFM. Hard to believe they are flowing almost 140% that of the Bell.

They say so! SO it is So!!!! :D

I made a trip to the local Cummins dealer today to pick up a 180 degree thermostat to replace the 192 degree off brand I had. The thermostat housing uses the Cummins 98-02 thermostat. They come in both 180 or 190. I have heard benefits on both. I don't like the fact that my electric fans kick on (185 degrees) before the thermostat opens. Since I modified the temp gauge I would notice that my temp would climb to a bit over 3/4 and hold for about a mile before it went down to the 1/2 mark. I assume it's playing catchup when it opens for that short period. Then it would stay at the 1/2 mark for the remainder of my drive no matter how far my drive would be. Was hoping to test it but my radiator is still leaking so I now have to wait a bit longer. Oh well what can you do.

Some nice clean red monsters on display. I never realized that I am lucky enough to have a dealer in town.

Cool to see it sitting on the floor but I have always hated how they just dump paint over everything. Lol
Yeah it doesn't last long. My Kabota paint is already flaking where I have used brake cleaner. Coolant doesn't help either.

Have you ever seen a Cat motor not completely painted? That's how they all roll... Makes it nice when your under a 988 Cat looking for a leak :)
