From the very start, it has never been about MPG to me. I'm a decadent American and keep no consideration to MPG when deciding to drive Land Cruisers.

That's it, the Cruiser I am currently driving I have went through, baseline, and done some other things too. Nothing out of the ordinary other than a very solid cleaning of the throttlebody.

If I told you I was getting 18 miles per gallon, driving 75 on I 75, you wouldn't believe me. Calibrated ultra gauge, verified on two apps, and one partial fill up.500 miles into this trip and it sits at 18.1 MPG. I am somewhat awestruck!

Is anyone here getting better MPG?

What year and engine ?

My 1991 gets 11mpg

My 96 FZJ80 w/ 285/75-16 and 2.5" lift gets 11.5 mpg for 4 year average.
My truck is about 6400 lb all the time because of tools and work parts I keep in it.

The best one tank I've had was 21 mpg on a 35 mph day long gravel road trip of about 190 miles. 30-35 MPH is the sweet spot for mine. I had to check my numbers a few times ....

The most gas I've ever put in the tank is 25.6 gallons. Yes, I coasted into the pump......

I run my tires at 45 PSI on open highway.

When I am just driving it by myself, I will get mid/upper 15's, and that is cruising with traffic in the city or highway. As soon as I tie the teardrop to the back or put things on the roof, it goes into the 14's. If I have the teardrop or boat and the road points uphill, I soon see 10-12. Worse yet, is low-range towing my trailer, then I see 8-10.

It all comes down to the task at hand for me and if the road points uphill.

And yes, my speedo is corrected.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen 21. I was amazed to see 18. I would agree though for me anywhere between 30 and 40 mph without stopping is pristine.

I have never put 25 gallons in though. I think the most I've done is close to 24.

A couple years ago on an Alaskan road trip I was curious about MPG and I calculated it between Delta Junction and Tok, which is a bit over 100 miles. Of course, there is no need to stop or slow down along this stretch and I did not. As I recall it was an exciting 17 mpg. My cruising speed was approximately the speed limit whatever it was there-probably 55-60. That's the best mpg by far I've ever seen. Stock LX 450 with ARB front bumper.
Perhaps this summer I will try again on another road trip to see if that can be matched. Otherwise my expectation is 13 mpg at best around Juneau town. We have no actual open highway in JNU.

Since full engine overhaul, I've been tracking. The higher outcomes are long highway trips. The majority of my driving is local. 33" tires with speedo correction gear.

17.3 on a post knuckle job check ride of 121 miles. 65 miles on Interstate at roughly 72, the balance on country roads @35-45. 5,600' of elevation gain too. We did a loop with the Interstate driving into the winds which were modest.

Pretty happy with this outcome. With a sketchy O2 sensor and pure city driving we had been at 11mpg.

'94 w/236k miles and no modifications other than ARB bumper.

Funny you should ask.
About 10 days ago on a trip (via 99) from Sacramento (Rancho Cordova Costco) to the Costco in Bakersfield, I got 18.4mpg.
I hit some stop lights and stopped at a Starbucks...
But the drive did feature a bit of a tailwind. Never faster than 70mph; flow of traffic and all that

Best I've ever seen is 15.1 mpg and that's with fairly light, stock size tyres on factory 16x8 steelies and H151 transmission.

Not a 1FZ-FE but a 360HP 6.0L L96. 16.3MPG on a recent test run. 35" Tires. This was on a rt 2 in Massachusetts, which is not as flat as I75 in Florida. :steer:

The other day I got 12.70MPG on back country roads going between 30 and 70mph.
ARB front, 4x4 rear, sliders, supercharger, 35's. She's not light and I didn't try to hypermile the trip. Just drove normal.

My '96 got 17.something when I drove it from Maine to Florida a couple of years back. It was all stock back then and I rarely drive faster than 60mph.
My '95 got 15.1mpg when I drove it back from Texas. It is also stock with the exception of the supercharger.

Has anyone installed taller tires, 35s to lightweigh 37s, and gotten a MPG boost? I'm considered 37x11.50 tires. They're about the same weight as 315s or 35s.
