F manifold(68-74), LH oil filter, lack of oil fill tube, holes in head for alt bracket. Could be a 72 as well.

Pre late 80 booster, carb fan and coolant reservoir make it late '77 or newer.other misc clues made me guess '78.

My 2/71 has the oil fill tube, holes in head for alt bracket and LH oil filter... ;)

What is the engine serial number? That will tell you for sure...

You got a heck of a deal considering SOR sells them for $29 each. Me I'm selling mine for $5 shipped. My understanding is the later ones with the post and not the wire screws are the rare ones as the early ones can still be had. Ironically the early ones are what everyone wants.

$5.00 is too cheap! The knob alone is worth that. ;) Anyone restoring can buy your switch and just use the knob on their OEM post switch. That's exactly why I bought mine, my OEM knob was damaged. :D

The serial number or the production date which is stamped into the block doesn't tell you the model year cruiser it was in. My 68 model FJ40 is a very early 68. Produced in late 67. The engine date is early 67 but it is the correct F145 not the F135 the 67 had. I guess it boils down to do you want production date or model year. Which almost always never start or end at the same time:cheers:

Well my knob doesn't work on the old switch. The threads are different. But the threads for the trim nut are the same so it can look correct if you have the old trim nut. I think $5 dollars is just fine. I'm not about raping cruiser heads over products. That's not what my business is about. It's about you getting what you pay for.

Production date. ;) Since I had no idea what year cruiser it came out of. But good advice to someone looking for a specific part.
