It's all because you watched this.

You snapped.

It's awesome. You know where I stand.

"How much did that cost?"

Me - "hell I don't know, if it was stupid and I should get it at NAPA Beno would have told me"

This really happened folks. It was my demise. That flatbiller and that Hummer on Mechum was the straw that broke the proverbial Camel's Back.

Truly put a big smile on my face, never would I spent the time to read a thread that long ....glad I did.

Toyota here in town makes me pay in full for one off parts and guarantees if I am wrong they will not give my my money back..After 20 years of buying from them..:slap: and they are not threatened when I tell them I will tell EVERYONE ON MUD...:moon:

Thanks Onur for taking my call last week and going over other items I didn't know about for the upper pan arch re-seal. How did you know I collected koozies? And a quality one at that. Thanks for putting up with a noob!

Beno..

You are an amazing person and TLC advocate in the biggest way. Should I EVER be stupid enough to come across as an IDIOT or anything close. Rest assured you have my permission to beat me upside the head and report me to the MUD community at large!!

Thank you. I hope that you did not read into my thread that I eschew or look down upon newbies. That's not at all the case. That is absolutely not the case at all. I have many clients who are now good friends who were newbies just a few years ago, in fact, just a a few months ago.

The tribe is accepting of any one who is true to their motivations with the Toyota Land Cruiser, whatever these intentions may be. As long as they are real and authentic to their purposes I feel committed to support that feeling and disposition.

I was once a newbie. Many people on MUD remember and know me from my own newbie days. In fact many of them bust my balls daily thinking about when they first met me when I was doing my first knuckle job or my first 1FZ-FE HG over a decade ago now.

My intention in my statements was to clarify where I stand, my foundation, my "Grundsatz" or "principle."

I was lucky to meet people many years ago who taught me this "principle", this idea about devotion to a cause. Mainly because it's fun, and because it's awesome talking to someone about Land Cruisers.

@cruiserdan and I do this almost every day, for example. There is not a day that does not go by where I don't pick up the phone and call CDan and ask him a Land Cruiser question. Why? Because all experts have other experts they rely on and turtles all the way down.

And because Dan and I really are good friends...and I have been blessed in my life to have a mentor like Dan and to have his family as my family.

There is no dollar value you can put on that, there is no correlative, there is no BS in the relationship as many of you know and have known over the years in our public interactions.

Some folks find this hard to believe.

I knew that Cdan and I were going to be friends for life when I spent my first $900 with him in 2004 and he knew all of the part numbers off the top of his head and was able to tell me everything I needed so I could drive my truck to work on Monday.

There is value in that and there is truth in that and I am lucky as a human being in the world to meet another human being who knows the notions of the human mind like Dan does.

I can only hope that others have that experience with their experts, folks of the Ancient Greek notion of "techne."

Anyway, I digress.

Adieu.

**hint: call me. Talking Land Cruisers is the best part of my day**

Bueno.. no worries.. we are good. Besides I still want to buy you that beer! I do need to talk. Working in Cali all week. Planned to call you on the way down and it didn't happen. I have a late start time on Thursday morning. I will leave myself a note to do so as that is what old farts need to do or we forget!

I find nothing wrong with a business making the rules of how they'll do business. I'm fortunate in that my employer allows me to do exactly that. There are a lot of 'former customers' over my past 15 years - each one taught me something...mostly how to better put myself in a position to do a better job for a higher level of customer. Those that I work with now would not be there if I had not learned from and had to devote resources to the others.

My best to you, Onur.

Im calling bull**** @beno ....

You'd TOTALLY bang a stripper if given the opportunity. :)

You rule man. Thanks for being my consultant. The world needs more people like you. As someone who spends his time dealing with customers and all of the bull**** that comes with them, I can totally see where the aggrevation and frusturation comes from. Still though, it's a good reminder to me that when I am on the consumer side of the deal, I need to remember to treat you the same way I expect to be treated. I'm sure I'm guilty of some of the above mentioned bull****.

Keep doing what you are doing. You've got yourself a loyal customer for life.

Beno said eschew.......:D

Seriously, just saw the "precipitating" post for all of this......AWESOME!

Not only does your "tribe" appreciate your all-things-Land Cruiser knowledge, we value your friendship!

Hope to see you soon "bro!"

Onur is the man. I am a perpetual newbie and I have always received nothing but great service and support from Onur. I think it is great that he has been able to put his knowledge to work for him so he can have the work life he wants and be in control of it.

I value being able to request parts and get all the stuff I need the first time. Unfortunately my time to work on my trucks is limited and to know I have everything I need before I start is worth a ton.

I did get a wrong footing cover for a roof rack from him once and I threw out the package. He was unable to take it in return and would not take it back and simply sent a new one that was correct. Awesome service and the man I will always turn to.

Though I think I am going to start wearing gloves when I take the parts out of the box.

Onur if i ever see you in Maine I will buy the beer.

John

A lot of this came out of our conversation 2 weeks ago Mark.

Thank you.
