Hello,

I have a four cynlinder diesel engine from a 1981 Toyota FJ60 Cruiser that I want to pass on. I have purchased a new seal kit and have cleaned/stripped the engine down and protected it with WD-40. It needs to have the cylinders re-sleeved as there is a fingernail thickness lip inside the cylinder. It does and will run as is if you wanted to put it back together. The original transmission is also included. I WILL NOT sell separately. The clutch plate only has 10K miles on it. I have additional parts(ALL radiator hoses, starter, etc..) INCLUDING THE COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS that came out of the 1981 Landcruiser. The engine had 250,000 original miles on it.I am moving and do not have the time to finish the project. Call and leave a message if interested. Do not call if just curious, I do not have the time to answer random questions.Make an offer but note I will be starting the price at 3600.00 for engine, all additional parts and transmission, local pickup or I will ship on a pallet only with paypal receipt of funds.

Thanks for looking,
I am in Boise, Idaho.

If you are one of the super smart diesel diesel guys responding about some random Toyota fact please don't bother but thanks just the same.

its very uncleare what you are selling here.. four speed transmission? five speed transmission? A picture of the entire engine would certainly help. Is the engine still assembled bc the picture (3b) you have posted looks like it is or are you selling boxes/buckets of parts to put an engine together?

it appears to be a 5 speed. the spacer on the 4 speeds would not have the 5th gear shifter coming out of the tower

it sounds to me like at a minimum the head has been removed. he mentions that " It does and will run as is if you wanted to put it back together"?

Lots of details

Hi and thanks for pointing out that my initial description fell clearly short of the mark. Yes, it is a towel in between the head and the block(nice catch). I have not put it back together to sell with the new seal kit because I thought anybody that wants this would also like to know exactly what they are getting. My 'pile' is pretty darn organized and I have three different books for the engine itself as well as a photo journal of the tear-down so I could potentially avoid any serious mistakes. The block is sitting with the pistons in it and I don't know how to post any more than three pictures but I will try on this go round. take it easy on me as I never got through my first diesel rebuild due to returning to school so I may not have a ton of answers. Let me know how I can further help so that those interested can know what they are looking at. I can email any other photos I have as i have apparently exceeded my quota. Thanks

this was an original engine out of a 1981 FJ60 from Vancouver. It was imported sometime in the late 90's and driven by a friend for over 10 years. The body was simply falling apart so I scrapped it after completely gutting it.

Pic Help

Is there a way to delete the existing photos in .jpeg format to insert the ones I optimized in a .png format?

Additional Photos

Here is the craigslist posting. There are a few more photos here that show the transfer case number, clutch plate, transmission number... Hope this is a better start than the initial posting.

Its not 'buckets of parts'.....more like neatly organized tupperware containers of cleaned parts. Hahah. But really, its everything including the engine mounts that I removed from the frame carefully. hoses, battery trays, etc....If your interested then let me know. If this is the greeting committee that makes comments rather than asks pertinent straight forward questions then see original posting.

We can't all be as lucky as you. ;)
Let me know what the asking price should be for this. I was operating under the assumption that anybody buying would want to know exactly what they were getting instead of purchasing some engine rebuilt by some unknown mechanic or with some unknown problem. Should I have it assembled before selling because it runs as is.

That statement was to splangy lol he beat everyone to the deal of the century last week.

Welcome to mud and Glws!

Here's two more 3B's that need rebuilds:

He's asking $800 for both :meh:

I'm not going to say what the asking price should be but my offer would be $1500. I could pick it up at the end of August.

Let me explain, I am sceptacle, to me a motor disassembled is very subject, has the head been NDT'd?
Mileage is suspect as it should have been in KM's. The 5 speed is not the original trans as they weren't offered in 81. So if the trans has been changed is the engine original to the rig?
Not knowing any of this actually ran and the trans isn't making any noise or have any issues.
Just my opinion.

I've checked out this 'pile of parts' and it all seems to be there. Including splitcase (it is a 5spd), drive lines, starter, air cleaner...even some 60 trim pieces.

I've a bunch of photos on another pc. I'll try to post them up in a bit.

I'd have bought it already, but couldn't get him to come down to a number we both could agree on.
