It was sunny and warm in the back yard so I played with the dogs and drank beer instead of working on that project. I hate to admit it but I miss the little white dog.

FWIW the factory rad mount seems to work, it's tough to argue with success.

Sure...
My ORIGINAL plan was to use the factory mount, chop it apart..that sort of thing, but...NOTHING was matching up that I could use.
So the plan now is to use some 4 in flat stock, bend it to match the outside of the rad. and build it from there.

Sounds like a nice day you had after you left. I actually kinda like the little white dog. He's pretty funny for sure.

have you seen this thread? more specifically THIS area?

It is a new week... :lol::flipoff2:

Just fixed the ORIGINAL design that I said I was scrapping.
Just DID NOT wanna start ALL OVER. For some reason though, this rad. thing is making MORE PARANOID than anything else as it seems to be such a delicate component...

Lemme know any thoughts or if any of you see anything GLARINGLY WRONG with the design.

Yes...the mech. fan does fit and I can take it on and off without removing the rad.

Its CLAMPED DOWN in this contraption and its really solid, but Im still gonna do a wrap around from the front to back and run an additional support to the frame as discussed earlier which will also keep it from vibrating horizontally.

use the K.I.S.S. method...

In supporting those legs for the radiator maybe you could kill two birds and incorporate the tranny cooler or/and a power steering cooler that could go in front of the radiator. I can't remember if you already have plans for that or not.

LOL...that is ALL I KNOW!:lol::lol:

Well then leave it the way it is right now ding bat! it looks solid as hell, good design ect. IF there is movement (a little will be just fine) then the radiator will move with it. get ya some good isolators in there to keep it from rubbing it the wrong way and call it good.

just sayin

I did! Ill spin my wheels for a month re doing this piece so I finished it...well..its tacked into its final state. I was concerned with the clamping on the CORE. I backed the tension off a bit so its clamping on the rubber blocks and added a "reach around" (:D)
to tie to the frame.

Unless I'm missing something, are the 2 bolts on the front side of the radiator the only mount point to the frame?

Jim...
NOPE. I cut apart the factory rad. mounts, and welded a flat piece of steel to the inner face of the front cross member and then welded the factory mounts back on....then bolted the mount to that. The fore bolts you see in the pic are just additional. I welded some grade 8 nuts into the frame so I wont have to worry about blind capture of the nut.

BTW...here are the pics of the tacked in FINISH!
PLEASED!!!!:D Again.. the interior of the mount will get a healthy coat of bed liner for additional protection.
Its SOLID!

Sick!! Should be overkill, which is exactly what you want:D

Thanks man.
I can practically push the rig on rollers just as it sits by the frame of the mount. Obviously...didnt wanna get TOO RAMBUNCTIOUS with it just tacked in.

THEN....the TUBE FENDERS came!!!!:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Cant WAIT to get started on those!

Well-That radiator isn't going anywhere!

Looks great. Will you be wheeling in the 2011 season?
