I don't think you'll need much, the stock system uses two rods < 1/4" in diameter coming off the back at about 30 degrees WRT vertical. Again you can always look at how mine is set up as a reference.

Yeah...I still have the stock braces and the original mounting holes are nice and accessable too. I have been contemplating that bracing to begin with, but was POSSIBLY gonna be lazy about it. Itll be easy enough to do and as stated above...wont hurt anything to have it MORE stable and OVER built.

Just checking in to whore your thread and make my required weekly worthless post.

WEEKLY!?!?!?! I think you meant to say DAILY!?:flipoff2::D

BTW....
I got a set of Metal Tech tube fenders EN ROUTE via a sweet deal from Lukezero!!!!!

FAAAAWK YEAH!:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Those will free up some space in both the engine compartment and for the tires. plus...they just look bad ass!

LOL...the goading keeps me MOVING. I think you by now have realized that when youre building a rig in front of your peers (mud crowd) that you MIGHT just do that LITTLE BIT EXTRA because of the fact you know that youll catch HELL FOR IT otherwise.

Soooo...yes, I do sort of like the attention. It also keeps me honest.

pictures please

Gotta get em first.;)

So then give some honest feedback on my struggle (eh build).;)

one of my friends has em on his 40 and the are pretty tough, he has drug em across walls and beat on em with little to no damage. Then a couple of months ago we were goofin off and i threw my truck in reverse and drove up onto his front tire and up on top of his fender... but the fender came out just fine everything but the fender flexed and moved.

for whatever it is worth.

Lol, yea well he kept running into me and trying to drive up my tires, it just happens I have the larger rig between us. :grinpimp:

Later we were driving to a trail down a dirt road and I pushed him off of the road too.:lol::lol:

Stopped by to beg a few pieces of scrap steel from Chicago today, got a peak at the 40. I can't wait to see this truck on the trail, it's a beast.

My BIGGEST reason for wanting these aside from the improved strength, is the added engine bay space it will allow. Those tin skirts on the stock fenders eat up a LOT of space. Additionally, you get an additional 2.5 in of clearance around the tires.
Ive noticed that lots of folks will rub that front edge of the fenders at full stuff on either side. Not that big of a deal, but...
Im pretty jazzed about them.

Cruisin...that is good information to know.

The skirts do keep a lot of crud out of the engine bay though.

Thanks rusty!
Did you get those to work?
BTW...I scrapped that rad. mount. Going back to the drawing board...AGAIN! Having all those individual parts just SUCKS trying to make it all right.
I got everything together and one of the support legs warped while welding. It would work, but I had to sort of torque it into place. What concerns me about THAT is that Im forcing the whole contraption and thus adding stress on the radiator at certain spots.

I think I have a better idea going back to a similar design that Toyota had used for the Rad. like we discussed.

UPS website shows them in Sparks. They have a scheduled delivery by end of day Monday.

Let me know when they make it safely!

Luke

It was sunny and warm in the back yard so I played with the dogs and drank beer instead of working on that project. I hate to admit it but I miss the little white dog.

FWIW the factory rad mount seems to work, it's tough to argue with success.
