Look at this way, when it gets really bad, that will help you justify links/coilovers.

How's the steering clearance when one side is hanging down like it would be under flex? I think you may still have trouble. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if so...even after the rain comment.
Here's a pic of my steering clearance as it sits. This is with ridiculous caster; like 10 degrees. Check out the finish on those leaf springs.![]()
Also...
Got some work done on the tilt column.
Got the firewall plate cut out and a plate made for the new column to go through....
However, the steering column is LOCKED, so I gotta get it to a lock smith (?) to get a key made? Never done that before......
I believe I have a lock puller.
Like a slide-hammer thing? I'd bring the whole column to a smithy and get a shiny key.
I got a tire sponsorship today! Details pending. I'm pretty-well committed to making it down to S&T though.
I'm staring to work on drive shafts...
My tie rod has always rubbed against the springs under articulation, the springs bend around it, no worries, it'll be fine. The part that bugs me is frame clearance and trying to make for more up travel.
No it screws in behind the steering wheel, down the center of the column, I think it presses the locking plate in so the whole tumbler assembly slides out. I've never used it, it came with the tool set.Like a slide-hammer thing? I'd bring the whole column to a smithy and get a shiny key.

How in the F did you manage to get a SPONSOR!?!?!?
I sent him some links, some stats and asked. I'm keeping it under wraps until I can post some pictures. Not a freebie, but a nice pro deal. He's sending a banner and some swag. We'll be right down in front showing off his, now my tires. I'm guessing you'll see a lot of them within a year. 315-75/16s on flat black soft 8s.
Are you sure you are gonna have to grind? I guess that means 77 was the first year of no grinding to fit the longs??

Likely, it's 79 when the birfield changed.
I know I had to grind my 76 and not my 84, but the grinding was trivial-a few moments per side with the 4 inch angle grinder.

He is using a 60 series front axle, so I am surprised that he is having to grind also...
