So for those of us that dont want to pay the $105 for the proper switch I figured out what the wires were for the CDL switch that are behind the dash and use a switch and relay I had laying around to do the same thing. you could just order a single pole double throw switch
(ON-On) to do the same thing but this is what I had laying around.
the first picture will be the connector and the labels, the second will be the crappy diagram I made to try to describe what I did. Basicly the little terminating block you pull out shorts out pins 7 and 10, if you remove that and short out pins 7 and 8 the CD locks. If you remove that and short back out pins 7 and 10 it unlocks. pins 2 and 3 are for the indicator light in the switch that comes on when pins 7 and 8 are shorted.

Thanks, the EWD doesn't have that info.

Do you happen to know which pin on the CDL control relay that the #8 wire goes to?

This seems more complicated than throwing in a hazard switch... I picked up mine for $8.

Thanks for the pinout, cnorm. very nice. I may use a spdt.

Do you mean the CDL indicator light in the dash lights up with those pins shorted and the cd locked, or just that there is power for an indicator light at pins 2,3? Do you know if there is a bulb in the dash for the CDL? Mine doesn't light up when in 4L.

And did you have to take your dash off? It looks like that connector is to the left of your radio. Thnx.

Like i said its what i had on hand and we just had a bad snow storm and i wanted it now not later. I might eventually try to find the CDL switch.

so there is a light in the instrument cluster to the left of the check engin and seat belt light and in the factory switch or hazard switch if you please there is a light in it as well.

yea i had to pull the bezel around the stereo off. if you search for the other CDL switch installs they have the instructions for pulling the bezel and finding the plug.

and pin 3 is not a true ground i tried grounding my relay and switch light through it and it didnt work so it must be part of the dimmer circuit for the dash lights. so i had to ground my relay and switch light on some metal back there.

i think it is to this switch plug because if you look at that diagram it shows going to a connector with 10 and 7 which are the wires that are jumpered. its just my guess though.
