Hello 40 section!
I am creating this thread to document the progress of my 1972 FJ40!
When we bought it:

As of now:

Future plans would involve upgrading the suspension to OME, new Corbeau seats with a Tuffy console, and a possible 2UZ-FE v8 swap with a 5 speed (thanks @UZJ40 for the idea).

Between the time of purchase (2010), and now, a soft top was added, OEM bows were installed, the stock spare tire carrier was put on and FJC steel wheels were added, with tock FJC rubber on them.

Its a 20 foot truck, Looks clean until you get up close. Bondo cracking on the quater panels, rust near the running boards, etc. Clean truck for being in the area so long, but it has its problems.

When I eventually get the truck into my custody after college, I'm doing a full teardown frame off resto. The two color choices on a repaint would be Freeborn red or Heritage blue. Both beautiful colors

No spacers to get them to fit. There is no need for spacers with these wheels.

Bezel was flipped back then. We flipped it after we bought it back in 2010. Looks great now, just a little bit rusty

Looking at putting aftermarket seats in, where can I find seat belts to mount into a 4/72 40? I can only find ones produced for 9/72 trucks

If you’re going aftermarket with the seats then I wouldn’t worry about year specific seatbelts. Just pickup some from a Scion Tc.

HI CBeckFJ, we are just down the road in Barrington and also started an FJ40 rebuild this fall. Ours is far worse off to start than yours, but we are making head way. We should meet up sometime to check out your project. I might be interested in some of your take off parts such as that front seat.

We got it a long time ago (2012 maybe), so sourcing it was hard. They are called paki soft tops and you can find them pretty easy nowadays. Finding the OEM bows is hard though
