Hey guys, I am just wondering if anybody here went through a car wash with Safari Snorkel on? I live in Oregon and kinda cold outside to wash my rig. I recently put a safari snorkel and 2.5 lift OME lift on my rig and just wondering if I can go through a car wash without ruining my snorkel. I mainly go to Kaady carwash here.

Thanks in advance

I have gone through the touch-less auto washes several times with no issues. I just make sure I'm checking the little dirt catch at the bottom of the air filter canister every couple of weeks so it doesn't get clogged and allow water to puddle.

I'm only pointing this out because everyone else is thinking it, not to be mean, but if you're cool enough for a dorkle then you're cool enough to wash your own truck.

There is nothing about your comment that is valuable. You may not like snorkels, but it's not your place to call someone out for theirs... especially on mud. I really can't understand why being "cool" has anything to do with washing your own rig or not.

How cold is “kinda cold outside”? I was my 80s by hand when it’s anywhere down to 0F.

My daughters Camry is the only vehicle that gets the auto drive through.

My guess is that if anything happens to your rig the car wash will not be held liable.

I would personally not use a drive through car wash. IF something happened, it could cause serious
damage to the fender, and as to how it's attached to the A pillar also.
Have you got one of those 'wand' washes around?

Touch-less should be fine but those that touch could get caught between the tube and fender causing damage. Your snorkel top may also get yanked off and caught up in the rotating fabric and beat the crap out of your passenger side. Either touch-less or DIY wand wash are my recommendations.

100 Series forum is a bit different than here. Sorry for the offense.

Is a car wash with a snorkel also called a river crossing?

You don’t have enough lift and accessories yet. I’m banned from even the hand wash places here. DIY only; which means it gets washed when it rains... once a year.

If salt needs to get removed, I would just pick whatever type of carwash gets that off the best. Last week took me a while to find one thawed and i slipped and slid all over that place trying to wash under it. I've lived up north and know what salt can do, so I wash every week, have some good warm gloves and I use the wand type carwashes. shoes with spikes help. I don't know if touchless sprays up enough, if it does then i say try it.

Dorkles 4 lyf, am I rite my dorkle bros?

This just proves you can find anything on mud. I was going to grab one of the cheapo snorkels on Amazon, but I love QuickQuack too much.

Yes, I stopped washing my own cars a little while ago. Kids, overtime, metal as a hobby, I can’t spend an hour washing the rig anymore. Plus under carriage wash amiright?

And also, this is why I love this forum.

If your snorkel is security attached - rivets and bolt NOT vhs tape, you are fine. Make sure the scoop is securely attached. (I used to do car wash tunnel maintenance). A lot of car washes might deny you though because they don’t want to test their luck.

Nice resurrection

I only use Mark VII machines and I have a rear wind deflector and I select the Elite Wash with the Soft Touch option which has those poly scrubbers that whip around. I also live in an area that it's way, way too cold to be washing your cars as often as you should be in our salt happy area.

I think they are awesome and I think if the snorkel was sturdy or you could make it sturdy, you would be fine. It doesn't grind down on the car that much and the computer is smart enough to back off when it gets to an obstacle like the snorkle.

I am hoping to buy one of these machines myself for my cars but also because we have a huge demand for them here and the supply is limited and the lines are way longer than they should be.

Strange, I was just thinking about this today when taking my 80 through the car wash for the first time and with an antenna that won’t fully go down (I never remember to lower it when on a trail). If it was a daily driver in winter, it would be covered in salt.
