Hmm ,not a bad idea plus you can tow this trailer with your 79 and RR too (for just in case)
I might copy your trailer idea ,looks very tempting

Thanks, mate.Great starter! Under the graffiti it looks pretty darn good! Excited to see how this beast turns out.
That was the point. The trailer SHOULD hitch to the RR and/or 79 pretty easily, provided we use the conventional method of using a tow hook.Hmm ,not a bad idea plus you can tow this trailer with your 79 and RR too (for just in case)

On the other hand, I've been seriously having a long hard look at the last picture I posted of the extended cab ute, hitched to the trailer. I like the look of that arrangement, muchly.![]()
You're absolutely right, of course. In my defence, I'm already starting to think of the truck and trailer as ONE vehicle, rather than two separate entities. That last pic type (if made) will bound the trailer to just one vehicle on the other hand any capable (future or present) vehicle can hitch the trailer ,although if made multivehicle + the planned 4 door it can serve as both.
Not sure how the height of hitch will be managed though.
I'm sure you will come up with a new plan![]()

It stands to sense that the trailer won't be used with any truck other than the 40, especially when both of them are designed from the very outset, to be used in tandem. But yes...common sense (what's THAT?!) dictates that the trailer should be capable of being hitched to just about anything.
I've heard some really good things about the 3UZ from local desert rally-racers here, and the powerplant has been swapped with some success, into cars as diverse as Hiluxes, vintage Range Rovers and Mitsu Pajero Evos! The engine comes factory-bolted to the six speed auto. Now whilst peak horsepower (300 odd) from the 3UZ comes at 5400 rpm, the peak torque (325 lb-ft) comes at 3400 rpm; the latter figure being even better than the 2UZ's peak 315 lb-ft at 3400 rpm. Given that the 3UZ is a lightweight alloy engine rather than the iron block of the 2UZ, performance should be stellar in a lightweight 40 series. Also, given that the 3UZ is getting swapped around a fair bit, means that there's an adequate local "talent pool" that's experienced in matters pertaining to fitment, wiring, and coaxing maximum performance out of it.I like both of your drawings, I think what you have drawn up will be awesome. However I am not sure I am with you on the tiptronic trans and 3uz. How strong is the tiptronic? For all the time it will take to wire and program that set up-for your uses I think a turned up turbo diesel would suit better your needs. A diesel out of a Hino would be cool, or a 6bt cummins-but that might be overkill. How about a NPR motor or 4bt? Something where you can boost it to get around 500ft lb of torque or so. You could do an auto tranny which would keep it comfortable and insulate the firewall and hood for noise reduction.
This place is actually just a half hour away from where I live, and I'm there on most weekends, like clockwork. If I had know you were changing direction with your build and just doing a 4 door 45 you could have just bought this... It's in a junk yard near ya
Some place near Islamabad ... Ehsan Kiani knows where it is ... He took this picture... If its still there that is

I love that truck. I just love it.Have you seen the pics of the MM40 I just put new axles under. 7 foot mini motorhome built on an FJ40 frame. There's a link on here somewhere.
Actually, brother, this four-door truck will be very different from the Phantom in terms of performance. It should theoretically be very fast, very nimble, very maneuverable, and have lots of traction, grip, and off-road capability, too. Very much in rally-car league. It's perfectly conceivable, thus, that the truck might see action in the Cholistan / Jhal Magsi desert rally next year. Phantom on the other hand, is a capable off-roader in its own right, but let's face it - with the 1HZ - it isn't going to participate in any competition where the cars have a 100 km/hr minimum speed limit. If you are still taking ideas ,just a thought that you already have a 4 door (well sort of) Phantom.
Why not make 2 RVs
One on the 45 like in post 1 and top 2 photos of post 19. On 35s and loaded with excursion tools, a boy toy for guys night out that you will take out with friends only. This can be a permanent bolt on or removable.
The second a separate luxurious passive camper that can be towed by any capable vehicle, great for family.
Best of both worlds![]()
