OH yeah!! That's what I'm talking about!!

If you need running boards I have a pair from a 69'. Different color but correct patina.

That's mighty generous, thanks!

The truck actually came with its original driver side running board (crunched) and a correct replacement. I just haven't had a chance to put it on yet.

Deo, there's a group going to RedRock this Sunday, pretty light stuff just some fun trails, want in?

The F is silky smooth, with plenty of power to drive at highway speeds. The single barrel carburetor is efficient and chugs along effortlessly in high/low range w/o throttle. The idle is around 600 and you can barely hear it running. The steering is tight, Ed recently did the tres. If you let off the wheel, it goes straight, at any speed. The suspension has newer bushings and the long wheelbase makes it the best riding 40 series I've been in. The single circuit manual brakes will throw you into the dash if you aren't belted in. To sum it up, Ed really has this truck dialed in.

Excuse my lack of early-Cruiser knowledge but is than an original floor-shift? I thought floor-shift came in 72 or are pick-up's different?

If you read back a few pages in the thread you'll notice ED gave me the original column shifter. He upgraded it to a floor shift using all Toyota parts. ED said it made it easier for him to shift gears going up and down the mountain.

Thanks for sharing your journey to pick up that cruiser out here in CA. we have some gems hiding here and seems like you found one of them. i know of a FJ40 in Needles CA just sitting with the same patina and black plates in beige with a column shift.
When i go like every other year i still go buy if it is there and sure enough it hasnt moved. No Rust at all.
Nice find. like that you kept it the way you bought it.

Hello there!!!!!! Subb'd & enjoyed reading the whole story.

I listed this here on MUD on 1/24 hoping it would go to a GOOD Mudder who would love it.

Not sure if you had already seen it before then but just wanted to say Congrats on the purchase and successful road trip. Looking forward to seeing your adventures in it. I am SO very glad it went to a solid home and not just to someone out to flip a sale or make a quick buck.

Im still a couple years out from needing one of these myself.

Cheers!!!!!!

For Sale: - 1965 FJ45 NOT mine......
