I reached out to Ed recently to let him know how much my son and I have been enjoying his old truck. He didn't answer the phone so a voicemail was left. A few days later his wife phoned to let me know he took the long highway home, to heaven. She explained it happened almost immediately after he sold me the truck. She knew it was coming when he let go of the 45, as he said he would never sell it. She also explained he wanted it to go to someone who really loved Land Cruiser's and was happy that someone was crazy enough to cross the entire USA for it.

During the purchase, Ed asked me if I planned on restoring/ reselling it. I explained I wasn't going to touch it, I wanted to keep it forever, in as found condition. Ed commented I should recover the seats and possibly fill in the cb hole he had cut into the dash. To fulfill his wishes, I've ordered new seat covers/ cushions and aquired a new dash to source the metal for the cb hole repair.

Every time I drive this rig I feel Eds presence. I will never forget my trip across country and the short time we spent together. Rest In Peace Buddy. Your spirit lives on.

What an inspiring story. Knowing that Ed was able to turn his cool old 45 over for cartaking to the right person. " Priceless" RIP Ed.

:frown: RIP Ed...

You KNOW he will grace your truck with his presence from time to time... When you feel the hairs standing up on the back of your neck you will know it's him...

I see where you're selling the red one you bought last year:
1965 Toyota Land Cruiser Base

I have quite a few Cruiser's any of which I'd part with. (except for Ed's & my 55/80/100).

22022 is "for sale" but I'm not too sure if it's "selling". After seeing the "elk truck" go, I figured it might be a good time to try my luck.

Didn't you buy the corrugated top 65 fj40 out of TX? I would have but the guy wouldn't sell because I wasn't local. :bang:

I'm sorry @mel lowe - is that a 55 on a 80 series chassis? Cause, there's a bit of a wheel track difference - I'd love to know how you closed the gap!

I can't believe how well it fits on that frame! I thought the tyres would stick out inches and inches!

got my copy today, bummer it says it's a 40 series.
