Swamp Lake looks reminds me of the Dusy, but half the distance. I want to say 16 vs 30 miles.

I guess I should update here. I changed wheels the battle born wheels that I got when I went to 39" tall tires were Listed as 17x9 the wheels were also stamped 17x9 but in reality there 17x10s

I prefer a 8" wide wheel as it make the tire bulge, the bulge helps protect the rim for rock damage. But i could my find bead locks in a 17x8 so I went with the 17x9s
Initially I do not realize the wheels were 17x10, they were listed as 17x9s the paper work said 17x9s and they were stamped on the wheels 17x9
I was like a kid in a candy store when the new wheels and tires showed up, I got busy mounting them up with out ever putting a tape measure across them :bang:
Then I started in on the task of making a 39x12.50" tire fit on a 2.5" lift. It took me months to do it Right, so it was months by the time one of my wheeling Buddy was looking at the new rims and tire set up and asking what size the wheels were He was like they have to be wider then 9s there no bulge,
So after that run I came home and pulled a part the spare sure enough I had 10" wide wheels
I had already had them mounted for 4 months so Battle Born was not welling to help me. So I just kept using them, they were constantly getting hung up on the rocks the lock ring were getting hammered the truck was even a bit harder to turn.
Finally I had enough and started looking for rims again and ended up going with the Walker Evens racing wheels there a 17x8.5 with a 3.75" back space perfect ;)

Getting ready to head out to Sand Hollow next week to put them through there paces.

PS it was a pain in the A** to change the tires over, a big thanks to Kenn @mustcamp and his Son Wyatt for spending a morning helping Me get them mounted up. 🙏
Tire shops won't mount bead lock wheels !!
The old Rims have already found a new home

mounting beadlocks solo is no fun. much easier with extra hands to help. goes way faster.

10" gives you a bigger foot print and extra grip. the skinny would protect the lip better, but that doesn't really matter with a beadlock as the ring does that job. Rings are wear items in my eyes. I've ran 8s to 10s and have to say the 10s do help with grip.

Once you air down I really doubt theirs any extra grip, we shall see.
I don't need the ring lock hanging up on the rocks like they were, they were also getting damaged to the point the bolt were hard to get in and out. with the Back spacing and the extra width my Reg was literally 6" widened at the out side of the wheels (way to much for me ) made it harder to squeeze through tight spots ,harder to put on the trailer and increasing scrub radius and making the steering harder.
IMHO 10" wide wheels are to wide for a 12.50" wide tire 🤷‍♂️ if your running 13.50 or wider that would be different, I'm not

New wheels look good! I have the battle born steel bead locks and I’ve dang near destroyed them because of the width…but I run a even skinnier swamper. 37x12x17 SX2s I bought mine when they first released them at $180 per wheel which is cheap…

We’re the aluminum ones you ran a 3.5 back space too?

10" will give you a bigger foot print for sure and that = extra grip. it stretches the tire out a bit with a 12.5 and you get a bigger contact patch. However that comes with its advantages and disadvantages as well.

I've run 12.5 wide tires on 10s and they work but are not ideal. They do work better on 13.5 wide tires on 10s. I miss my Irok's Bias Ply's on 13.5 and 10s. They were amazing on the rocks but sucked on road. I don't trailer so I got sick and tired of constant balancing problems.

I still haven't found the "perfect" tire for offroad and onroad. It's all about compromises on what is more important.

We can agree to disagree, Once you air down and the side biter are all most touching the ground how much more foot print can you get 🤷‍♂️ ;)

What size wheels are you running with your 12.50 ? Haha, I rest my case

you'll be surprised. the lower the psi the bigger the foot print. It will keep getting bigger the lower it goes. Same with having a larger rim to stretch the rubber. There's plenty of great videos on youtube explaining the data behind it. I think even Engineering Explained has a good video.

It was incredibly beautiful in the bay today, so many great places to walk the Dog here. LIFE'S GOOD

As much as I like the idea of getting new rims in a 17x9 or 17x8.5 just to get rid of my 1.25 inch wheel spacers. I really dig the fit and finish of my Sequoia 17x7.5s with my 39s. I'm just not sold on it yet. I will stick with the poor man's beadlocks for now.

Sassy at the beach

Walkers look the goods.

Went to Sand Hollow with friends including @mustcamp and @Noahrob for four days of wheeling bliss. Seven Regs total.
In six years of ownership, including two other trips to Sand Hollow and many others, this was the first time I engaged obstacles that found my limits.
The Cruiser did incredibly well, the limiting factor was the driver ( Me ) not the Reg. I Taped out a few times and asked for the Hook.
Five of the seven.
