I also picked up a set of Depo corner light as I smashed one at Sand Hollow on this last trip 🤷‍♂️

The Drivers seat needs a little help so I got this to install  it should help with those long trail days

Which Depot corners are those? I didn't think they came in clear any more.
The clear one’s , EBay they come with amber bulbs and light sockets plug and play.
At $59. a set you can’t go wrong, free shipping too. Quality is nice as well.

The tcase extender is a nice add-on for a real wheeler
Yep, when we first talked about them I thought meh
But this last trip to sand hollow I missed judged the shifter a couple of times and thought it would be nice to have that extra hight.
I end up shifting from hi to low and back a lot with the low range transfer case reduction gears 🤷‍♂️

Those are the most serious raised beds I think I have seen. Nice work!

Worked on the seat.
What came out was nasty!

Someone built up the outside edge with burlap and foam.

The frame was pretty rusty so I cleaned it up and gave it a splash of paint.

Then put it back together.

Hopefully it well feel much better !! the foam was $$

I guess that's considerably cheaper than replacing it (like I did:rolleyes:) with a $2K Scheel Mann. But I now have a right hand armrest and seat heater for those cold winter mornings🥶. I hope you let the paint dry so you don't have griddle marks on your butt....

At 6'4" the padded center console works fine for me as a arm rest 🤷‍♂️

Where I live the average temperature is 65 degrees year round, so no need for seat heater.

When I got my 80 it had thrashed leather seats like most. I like simple so I went with the OEM manual seats ( hard to find and $$ ) there also 27lbs lighter each for a weight saving 54lbs total, they also offer all most 2" of extra leg room over OEM power seats for tall drivers like me and they bolt right in the KISS plan !

To be clear that piece of foam was $250 plus tax and shipping but I won't be crying if I spell beer on it bouncing down the trail like I would with a $ 2k seat.

Oh, I agree - expensive is not always better. I have manual seats, but the range of adjustment with the Scheel Mann is awesome. It will get you closer or further from the steering wheel than my OEM, which I didn't really need, but is nice to have. I like what you did with your seat and after you posted, I felt some regret that I didn't do something similar, especially financially. The driver's seat had been leaking foam dust for several years from that outside wing, so I imagine it was in worse shape than yours before your project. But, my OEM fabric upholstery is holding up great and I did the cargo net restore (both OEM seats) which cleaned that up. There are more adjustments with the SM, but the recline is kinda cumbersome compared to OEM. There's a knob that you crank on so it's much slower up or down. It's also slightly longer front to back, so it intrudes more into the rear legroom. The black color shows the dust and dirt much more than the OEM fabric. Pluses and minuses 🤷‍♂️

Please post up some Pictures of your Scheel Mann seats, they do sound awesome and I'm sure others well like to see then as well as my self !

For the cost, I only replaced the driver's seat. Maybe down the road I'll do "shotgun" as well. Driver's side was more worn and rest of interior is still in good shape. That is why I believe for the money and care, fabric seats excel - at least Toyota fabric. Anyway some pics....

In this one you can see the rear legroom intrusion. The passenger front seat is all the way back(IIRC) and driver's seat is adjusted for me at 5'9". Please ignor my thrashed kleenex box and iPad power cord.

In this one you can see armrest height compared to the stock console. Also notice where I mounted the seat heater control.

This last pic was of the back of the OEM before I replaced it after I did the restore of the cargo net. I removed the seat back and replaced the top cord with a cord that has the adjuster that I took off some old winter jacket. I hadn't popped the screw cover caps back down yet. It sure makes a difference in looks compared to the stretched out original.

I must also mention that the Scheel Mann Vario F model seat that I installed is not a bolt in seat. A seat adapter bracket was needed, manufactured by Planted Technology. It was available through the source that I used, that being Metal Tech 4x4. There's another source that I know of and it's Long Range of America which is the authorized dealer for aux fuel tanks and my source for my 24 gal aux tank. Both are reputable dealers. But with all that's going on in the world today, I would check availability ahead of time, before you make any plans.

If you use a Planted bracket, order directly from the source (Planted is owned by 425 Motorsports in Seattle - contact details are easy to find). The Scheel Mann bolt pattern isn't standard on the bracket and needs to be requested at time of order as it conflicts with the Recaro holes that come drilled standard. No extra charge and took about a day when I ordered (and they have the Scheel Mann pattern saved). Great group of guys to work with.

I believe the Planted brackets come with standard holes for Recaro, Corbeu and I think Sparco if you're thinking about other applications.

I am a cloth seat kind of guy too. All four of the 80’s I have had were cloth. They are probably a 1/4 what leather power seats weigh too.

The early 91/92 fabric is by far the most durable.

Cheers

Can you post a photo of the 91/92 seat cover fabric?

I'd prefer cloth over the alcantra on my 91 but I don't wanna give up heat.

Best I got on the phone, my old 91, the 91/92’s used to be the best for swaps cause they were dirt cheap and you could still grab a set of locked axles for $1500.
