Looks like a great time. Crisp and clear. How did the Sequoia do?
The Sequoia did just fine. We cooked his shocks pretty regularly on the fast, rough sections. Some better shocks would have had him hanging right with us. The Sequoia is a great rig for this type of trip.

I’m sure he has cruiser envy being around your crew. I’m betting he/she is actively searching

Not really. He's got a really built 4Runner on 80 axles and coilovers. I think he's very content with his current rigs. But I think he is searching for a suspension upgrade for the Sequoia.

I doubt I could hang with y'all unsupported even in my 80 over that terrain, but it looks fun as hell.

Looks like a sweet trip, and a Baja designs infomercial. Not that that is a bad thing.
Haha. yeah, Morgan and Mike have quite a few lights from Baja Designs. I'm not as cool as they are, but mine are the LED CoLight Lasers and Cube4's. Needless to say we had plenty of light when it got dark. :)

Look what just arrived today…had an empty spot on the switchpro to fill in.

My last trip was a little rough on the truck and besides the broken swingout hinge on my rear tire carrier I also destroyed a ring and pinion in the front diff. The diff is almost back together with a new set of 4.88's and new bearings etc. But I've had a spare front diff sitting on the shelf for a while with plans to upgrade the front axle in my sons minitruck with the high pinion elocker. Having the spare diff has been nice because I just installed the spare diff so the truck wouldn't be down and unusable. Since the spare diff is 4.10 gears the front axle shafts are still out and the front driveshaft is out and I've been driving in 2WD. The spare diff just made it so I didn't have a massive open hole in the front axle housing while the ring and pinion was being replaced.

I thought this was pretty wild. When the pinion flange was removed there were a couple big chunks of ring gear on the flange. No visible damage to the pinion gear but they somehow made their way past the pinion to the flange. Wild.

I can't remember the last time I used the CB radio I had in the ashtray location. So I ordered a Wits End Useless Ashtray Switchplate. This was great because I had my two main light switches in the Delta Shifter console, but I also had three other light switches that used random switches and were in some random spots. I got three new switches from OTRATTW that were labeled as I needed them and replaced all the random switches and moved them to the Wits End Switchplate. Much better than what I had.

Are you saying that gear teeth found their way past the pinion bearings and wound up on the outside of the third member???

......and you get no water between the rear hatch and body where you wiring comes into the cab? bummer on the r/p, at least you had a spare. Who was the manufacturer?

No water as of yet. I think it still seals well.

The gears were from Nitro.

well, for the weight and abuse, im sure they held up well for the time they were in. You wanted new ones anyway !!

Very true words. They have done many thousands of hard miles in a heavy truck.

I just need to stop jumping the truck I guess. Or get rid of the chromoly axle shafts and birfs and go back to stock ones so those break instead of the diff. Or do some REM and cryo treating of the gears so they hold up better. Or switch to one-ton axles and not worry about them anymore. More than one way to skin a cat, the cheapest of which is to stop driving like an idiot.
