Bolt on turbo kit (22 Viewers)

Mine dynoed at 120hp in Lakewood (5600 ft), but my torque number was a lot lower than the stock test subject shown above.

I've read "stock" AWHP can measure anywhere from 110-150 depending on the dyno operator, type of dyno, correction factors, altitude, yadda, yadda, yadda. Bottom line, it's all horse crap. Basically all you can do is measure one thing against the other thing on the same dyno on the same day and compare those two numbers. Comparing against anything else on any other day or at any other location is a fools errand.

I doubt it. I have the data I need to make me more than comfortable with the results thus far. Dyno tested post dyno is more for my own edification since its my own truck now.

Yeah, if it were me I would feel the same. However curiosity might get me for the difference in trucks and how healthy the motor is compared to the wrecked truck.

Got the truck back today. The catalyst monitor finally activated so it’s now passed the first stage. Picked up some stuff from the pipe shop on the way back. I’m ready to start slapping to turbo onto this beast, and it needs it. Totally gutless.

Yesterday the fender was cleaned up to get ready for the turbo. Last night at 2am I realized I forgot to not only register the truck, but I also forget to get the truck smogged FOR California.

Woke my little brother up early to get him to put EVERYTHING back together so we can drive over to a random smog check station and HOPE that this federal 80Series passes CA smog.

But guess what? Passed with absolute flying colors!

So now tomorrow it’ll go to registration and then it’ll be turbo time!

I just followed this guy’s advice to a “T”. I acquired everything suggested and went to town. Only thing I might do extra is to purchase a small electric buffing orbital to really shine it up.

That looks like a good way to disturb the delicate balance of all those electronic components continuing to function in their current states and have to spend a lot of money to replace them.

Whenever it comes to detailing, opinions are more like fingers than even arseholes, most people have multiple suggestions about what works for them and what doesn’t, most will add the “your results my vary”, “I’m not liable for your thing getting broke cause you followed my advice”.

Since buying a fancy car, and working to improve my detail game, all I’ve learned is:
Meg’s is better than about 75% of the other products out there, and is reasonable on price
Don’t call yourself a detailed if you use F11 products
Chemical guys users are like iPhone/Android users. Some love, some hate, some really hate
Take YOUR TIME.

I borrow this stuff from work all the time, have used it for years, Misty Disinfectant Foam Cleaner

Misty® Disinfectant Foam Cleaner, 19 oz. Aerosol Spray, 12 Cans/Case - 1001907

It is very effective at cleaning up all surfaces, sticks well to vertical surfaces and leaves a pleasant clean smell. It really does do well on cleaning up rubbers and greasy areas, and does not really require a rinse. It works great for fogging down the engine area and just letting it soak off the grime. Its pricey, and Misty makes all kinds of other specific cleaning products, I have no idea how the others work, all I know is my stuff is sterilized after I use this particular product, you cant be too careful.

But it is a great cleaner, I tried dollar store alternatives, that should have really been the same, but they weren't even close in cleaning action. If there is a stubborn smudge or stain, or grime that nothing else will take off, this stuff usually will.

Just quick update:

Since I'm waiting for one side of the turbo housing to arrive AND I'm waiting in the downpipe, I've been cleaning up the engine bay. If there is time I will do a complete coolant system refresh including new radiator. So whatever I can finish with the time for stuff to show up, I will do.
