Figured a thread update was in order. The new shop is finally operational and I put my Mustang up for sale so it’s time to get this project up and running. I’m shooting for SAS5 to give me the motivation to get this done in 8ish months.

Remember when I said I was running a 2H, well..

I lied :flipoff2:

Bluebonnet 2.0:
-Chevy 5.3L
-Holley Terminator X
-H55f Trans
-70 Series Front Disk Axle
-70 Series Rear Drum Axle w/ Parking Brake

Picked up the motor this week, it’s a 2002 drive by cable from a Yukon:

Mental gymnastics before a parts order today.

The first order of business was mocking up the bell housing. I already had a Downey Chevy 350 to Toyota 4-speed bell housing. I was told it should work since the LS has the same bolt pattern as the 350 minus 2-3 bolts and the Toyota 4-speed has the same bolt pattern as the h55f.

However I found 2 problems with the Downey Adapter:

1) There are several bolts on rear main seal cover that interfere with the scatter shield (which I planned on drilling holes through to clear the cover, but then the flywheel would graze the scatter shield because the crankshaft flange on a gen 3 LS doesn’t protrude out far enough to clear the flywheel )

2) The adapter was clocked to the PS when the dowels were aligned

So I spoke to @A10Driver , who previously did an LS swap into his 40, and decided on this bell housing kit from Advanced Adapters instead:

I also picked up this clutch kit/flywheel/pilot bearing bushing (fits an h55f)/throw out bearing:

Thank you for your input and time Mike!

I removed the old engine harness and ecu connections from the motor and scrubbed the intake, heads, and block with purple power.

Old Landy and Bluebonnet awaiting their new transplants in the backdrop :bounce:

Then I started tearing into the 70 series rear axle for a rebuild and repaint.

Your Downey bell housing look like an early one or a 3 speeds model .
This is a pic of my 4 speed Downey bell

I was told it was an early Downey 4 speed adapter but upon closer inspection with a 3 speed I have in the shop too it looks like you may be right.
