I haven't noticed any difference in starting with or without pushing my grid heater button. Mine will fire right up with a tap on the pedal.

I'm saving money for arb or tjm selectable lockers for hopefully sometime later this year (after classes are done). While I'm doing that I figured I should go ahead and get some Longfields for the front axle. To my surprise (unless memory is failing me) they are much cheaper than I remember. I see there are two kinds , one with long splines for elockers and one with shorter splines.

Short splines

Does anyone know if the selectable lockers will need the long or short splines? Also, they are 30 splines and I thought the toyota axles only had 27. What parts will I need to change to make these work?

Is there a need to replace the rear axles with chromolies? I thought I found someone who made them for the 80 axle, but can't seem to find them anymore.

Yes I did a search, but I'm still not clear. Thanks for your input.

No need for long splines with air lockers, replaces the whole carrier and all that jazz. With the cummins, its hard to say whether you'll need chromoly rear FF shafts, definitely wouldn't with the 3fe or even the 1fz, so if you haven't snapped one yet, its probably alright to hold off on them (i think Nitro makes the chromo FF shafts though).

Get the chromo 30 spline axles. Nothing needs to be modified and they're a good bit stronger than the chromo 27 spline axles.

And id go to RCV axles directly for your purchase (http://www.rcvperformance.com/product-details.aspx?sku=CVJ2851-PLC60M). Thats where Longfields were made before they were bought by trail gear and you don't have to worry about why Longfields are so much cheaper now that they are TG owned, cuz I'm pretty sure they used to be more expensive too haha.

Dang that's like a $200 difference. Are they the same product? Thanks for responding, will definitely stick to the 30 splines. I'm starting to save from now, so hopefully by summer I'll have enough for the upgrade.

Came home to find a package waiting for me. I honestly forgot i had ordered the ladder extension for the rtt. My excitement soon faded when i realized they had packaged a used or at least dinged up one. The box wasn't damaged do they had to have known about it before shipping. It's still functional but i hate the idea of paying full price for a used product. These are the same guys that sent me an rtt with a frayed strap and wouldn't return my email about it. Anyway here's a pic or two.

I'm not sure if you're referring about the Made in China part or the CVT part or both. I'm torn between complaining to them or giving them a break because they are the "little Guy trying to make a living". What would J Do?

I don't care for how it looks to be honest so long as it can hold my fatness. It's the idea of not getting what you pay for

I have a feeling you could call, possibly vent a little and get some sort of a discount or they will say they will send you another.. BUT good chance, the other might look the same.

I bought a stereo from China and it was defective right out of the box. They want me to pay to send it back to them so they can repair it. Unusual way of doing business. If you spent a lot I would pursue it a bit.
Speaking of which, my stereo is now giving me issues. Turns on an off constantly. I'm hoping it's something simple like a loose connection.

Big red is looking good mike. The diesel is still making me jealous. Are you going to be at K2 this year?

I'm gonna definitely try, but my schedule is dictated to me by circumstance, so can't promise. I'm also trying to go to the Big Bend trip in February, are you going to that one?
In other news i ordered a CB radio. When i get back from training next Friday, I'll start installing it and looking at the stereo issues.

Dude i just arrived in ft worth. Was the slowest car in the western hemisphere. Freaking 30 mph headwinds the whole way.
