howdees all

indeed have not been on MUD for sometime - but here a little 80 series anecdote.....

was driving down the road the other day - guy in a super large dodge ram - pulls up beside me
indeed quite fast and hovers / lingers in my passenger blind spot - like he is police or a some sort of mob hitman....

im like WTF....im just cruising along (albeit slow a fux as usual - as we all know the propensity for speed and 80 series has)

i keep on cursing along - next thing he is right beside me - signaling to me - yelling out to me -

im like aw s***....he we go what the hell does this a****** want....wtf did i do to him....
im reading up for a "whats your problem bro ????"

he then yells out...."Hey buddy is it for sale ???? your car....you want to sell ???"

stunned i was like..."Sorry man no way..."

he then gave me a sheepish shrug and the "knowing nod"
and yelled out..."Thats a shame....best car ever !" and then gave me a couple toots on the horn and peeled off
as he waived out his window.....

Found this note recently which is always kinda cool and not the first either.

I don’t think many of them realize how much it’ll cost em to get this 80 of mine sold.

Thanks for sharing.

Not out of the ordinary. I had an inquiry-at-speed like that on I-10 in Phoenix last year, and get a few windshield notes each year too.

It is interesting how time flies, like most of here been driving an 80 for going on a couple of decades, at least as a second weekend vehicle, they have gone from cult favorites to best car ever!

I still see several folks in completely stock 80’s that have been driving them since new, get the occasional wave, however mostly I get “ you will get my land cruiser when you pry it from my cold dead hands!”

If that's how he writes a note, I doubt he's able to hold a real job long enough to afford it.
Someone has never heard of the Golden Rule

I guarantee that note is not a sign of their wealth. Have you seen how POTUS tweets?

I usually just get the finger, especially on long grades. Or, i get, “nice 4Runner”.

Haha, I can’t count the # of times I’ve gotten the “sweet 4runner, man!” -comment in gas stations, etc.

A long time ago I told a few “it’s a Landcruiser” — but now I don’t bother saying anything but ‘thanks’

If you want the scrap-paper windshield FS offers, Home Depot seems like an informal carlot the way I catch them there. Odd since my HD is in a relatively small town.

Whenever anyone compliments my car or the 80 (that's pretty rare), I always think of this South Park episode.

I had a guy walk around the front half of my 80 about three times before he finally asked me what kind of truck it was. I have the TEQ badge from @bhicks on the grille, so he was confused by it, but he knew it wasn't a 4runner.

"I know" and "you got that right" also work. :hillbilly:

Had a guy in a newer Cherokee say "nice 4runner" on the trail. I replied, "nice Fiat", and drove away. haha
