I was really excited for the M2V2 since I use a QuadLock/Ram mount combo on my motorcycles and other vehicles. However, I then remembered that the 2003+ LXs have a solid wood trim piece and I can't use the M2V2

Any creative plans for adapting a Ram 1" ball mount in the 2003+ LX's that retain the AHC controller? Maybe in one of the empty switch positions or in the ash tray?

Did you remove the empty switch? I want to look at the back of the switch. Maybe I can make something.

The same switch mechanism exists behind the block off plate. It pushes in and out.

Make 2 V2: Ram Ball Base Mount

This is the final product, M2V2, installed on my truck.

2 Introduction

The design has two parts, the backing bracket and the face panel. The backing bracket is to reinforce the factory panel. Three existing fixture points are used.

The following figure shows the whole assembly (Ram ball mount is not included in the order).
All fasteners are 18-8 stainless steel and will be provided.
Three #4 Flat Head Thread-Forming Screws for Plastic
Two 10-24 Nylon-Insert Locknuts (Black-Oxide)
Two 10-24 Socket Head Screws (Black-Oxide)

3 Fabrication

The face plate is printed using chopped carbon-fiber nylon. It has a matte black surface finish. No painting/sanding/prepping is needed.

The backing bracket is printed with ABS.

This is the first project that I cooperated with @suprarx7nut utilizing his fantastic Markforged printer. The chopped carbon-fiber nylon has very high stiffness and high toughness compared to ABS I used on most of my makes.

The first batch was sold out. I and @suprarx7nut want to hold the production and wait for the feedbacks. If any modification is needed, we will make the change on second batch.

I also have a question about the updated version of the overhead 6 switch mount. I like the thought/fact that the switches seem more visible and accessible, but, I'm am 6'4" and based on a couple of the photos you've posted, I'm afraid that the new version might block the rear view. Is that the case?

I have one of those truck stop cell phone holders. They fit on any those ball mounts. Very useful for all kinds of stuff.
