Moded fan clutch and seal all the gaps between the radiator and frame with weatherstripping. I have had my truck for 16 years and a modded clutch for more than 12. It wasn’t until I went through with weatherstripping, that my A/C went from ok went moving and not keeping the truck cool when in traffic on 100f+ days to working well. I now see vent temps in the low 40s on the freeway and high 50s in stopped traffic. Before the vent temps would creep up to the mid 70f range in stopped traffic.

I have the fan kit but only use it now to help with heat soak, i.e., getting gas on hot days I will leave it on so the AC gets colder faster when restarting.

@cary Any Pics? Im not infront of my truck for a few weeks, but I cant envision where the weatherstripping is going? any specific weatherstripping you suggest? are we talking general home weather stripping? Very interested in doing this.

To keep on Thread Topic and not hijack, @LandCruiserPhil nice side by side comparison, I agree that for that small difference in airflow the depo setup for the cost savings is a win, affords me the cash to do the weatherstripping mod.

Re-invented the wheel and had fun wasting a few days creating and then solving small problems.

If you value your time my recommendation is to simply order Landcruiser Phil’s plug and play solution.

The bushing is there and thanks to dedicated junkyard scavenging I had some zinc plated Toyoda bolts (@NLXTACY) and brackets necessary to cobble things together. Happy and satisfied that it works but really should have just ordered well designed solution.

I'd also like to thank LCP for the "Fan" label for the fog light switch.

I'm playing catch up. Whats the modded fan clutch ?
will the auxiliary fan kit fit a right hand HDJ81 ?

was just thumbing through this thread and didn't see a post I thought I posted on how this fan saved my arse on a trip.

last feb I went to the sierras (bishop, ca) to play in the snow at my brothers. my fan clutch went out while I was there and my nephew spotted it free spinning when I shut it down during the checks before I drove home. my nephew is a big Toyota guy and has about 10 complete engines in his garage waiting rebuild or install. we found out that none of his fan clutches would fit on the 1fz water pump. every auto parts store either didn't have a clutch or was closed. I just said screw it and drove it. I decided to turn the fan on when I got to traffic but lucky for me it was cold outside with showers on the first half of the drive. it wasn't until I got to the hill on the 10 in Redlands that it helped. the outside air temps were probably low 70s and the engine temps got to 209. it would have over heated if I didn't have the fan making for a long drive of stop and go...

I like mine a lot!

@LandCruiserPhil are you running an aftermarket temp gauge? I'll be adding one in the future, planning on drilling and tapping one of the hard lines (I will get a photo later, there is a nice flat boss that would be perfect.)

If you don't have this; you need it.

Very nice and useful mod.

How do I get one?

Only a couple clicks away

Received and installed my plug in play fan kit from Land Cruiser products today. Easy install and already feeling the results. Highly recommended. Thanks!!

Phil and Co,

Do you have an anticipated restock date for the 80 fan kits? My compressor just died of old age and I might as well do it all at once.

DEPO the fan manufacture has no stock in the USA with no estimate when more will be available. We are currently looking at options.

Corvid has had a huge impact on our oversea suppliers.

Wish I had better news.

Would you be willing to sell the mounting kit on it's own? (Bracket and associated hardware)
