Thought id do a build thread / update

We Aussies get the benefit of finding these things at bargain prices compared to other places like the USA. Here these are considered still mainly work horses and are just seen to be reliable vehicles and when they get old their exported.

I stumbled onto this one for $1000 AUD (around 800 usd), No registration and no idea about what i had found being so clean, after all i wasnt even looking for one.

Preety much a 5 speed, NO roof rust, dual fuel 3f (untuned and sad) and the second original owner.

He spent abit of money on it but left a few things to neglect mechanically wise.

When I bought it, he had lowered the car on 22 inch chrome rims and the car had never been in the bush and had a recoed motor a few years back .

In Victoria, we can register cars older then 25 years as a classic vehicle saving me around $600 on yearly registration the only catch is I can drive it for a maximum of 90 days a year.

Nice truck!

man, if all we had to do to register 25 YO guzzlers was pay 600 bucks, we'd have a lot more of em on the road!

Cheers for all the interest. I had smashed my phone so lost alot of photos so bear with the slightly bigger jump.

Fast forward to a year.

-Raised the truck on stock suspension and 2 inch extended shackles as I didnt really want to be spending alot on suspension when i dont mud it alot.
-Carby rebuilt and tuned for gas
-Installed a uhf
-Led light bar and proper bullbar
-Speakers and general tidy up.

Purchased a donor 2h manual bus with alot of rust and was going to change over my boring petrol to a diesel but no time at the moment.

Recently, ive noticed the transfer case to be leaking from the speedo cable seal and ordered NOS toyota gaskets from toyota thanks to this forum I found the part numbers.

Also sourced a pair of chrome mirrors. My black ones where not my style.

Next up:
- Changing diff fluids and bolts to new allen key style ones
- Speedo cable seal
- Buy bigger muddies
- Roof basket

I noticed you guys dont get much on these parts for incline meters, grab handles etc.

Was their any interest in my selling them to the USA? Ive got paypal and have a few atm.

I purchased a whole car as a donour vehicle.

2H + turbo conversion 5 speed. flew up and Drove 5 hours out of my home town to pick her up.

The roof has WAYYY to much bog and rust to be worth keeping and so ive been parting it out.

Items of interest to alot of you guys include inclemetre & grab handles.

OEM black mirrors? that donor doesn't have split rear bench, does it?

Hey bud, its off a truck or tractor.

Super reliable and alot neater and better then other options.

care to share more on it .. / pics .. ?

some non US models have what is called a "split rear bench" - where the rear bench is cut in half, essentially, enabling one side to be folded, and the other up...

I'll see what I can find... thee are pics of them floating around here somewhere.
