Few more pics of today's work. Got spring latches done. Tested RW spare on swing arm. Tapped license plate to jerry can holder. License plate light pending. Mud flap mounting plates are done. Need to finish swing arm bumper stops. Enjoy pics.

Slanted tire carrier and dual jerry cans. Nicely done.

Where did you learn metal fab skills? I'm envious (also of the tools it must have taken to build).

This my first time building a bumper. I have built skid plates and rock sliders in past on my Tundra and Land Cruiser. I have gained experience doing my projects and learned watching lots of YouTube videos. I got Lincoln 180HD and Miller 625xtreme plasma cutter running at 220v. I wired 220v plug from panel watching a YouTube clip. Lots mechanic tools that I collected from past 15 years. Also, have shop press to bend plates. I have build bending dies using angle iron. Recently acquire swag off road bending die as well. I do this as a hobby only.

Hi-lift jack in action. However, jack itself will be mounted in front bumper (future build) There is lot of travel in rear axle.

I dropped it off for powder coating this morning. I will get it back in two weeks before the long weekend. I went with black semigloss.

Nice job! I wish I had skills like that

Source a 3M or type product/ thin barrier where your swing out and latch meet on your bumper. After a while that area seems to scuff and the powder coat disappears.
Having a heavy tire bouncing around takes its toll. Just something I've been noticing on mine and now I'm looking for a solution. That's what I'm going to do. When that film gets trashed you can replace it.

@Willy beamin what rear springs are you running with Icon shocks? Thanks for tip.

Currently I'm running OME 2722. I purchased 2723's because I want to see / feel the difference. My rear bumper and 35 on the back added about 200-250 lbs. And after I load the cargo area those rear feels soft.

Cool. I was thinking about OME 2723. I am adding ~250lbs.

Updated post #1. And finished installing rear bumper. Hooked up led lights to backup lights. Also, installed license plate light quick connector when license plate is moved to jerry can box. I will do body filler work on bumper after Ouray trip as I can see grinder marks at few locations under certain light conditions. Otherwise it turned out good in my eyes.

Looks like some serious protection for your rear end!

Are you going to run the wheel/jerry can carrier full time or just put it on when needed

I will install swing arms on as needed basis. Otherwise, spare tire will be under the rig.

Pics of armor performance after Ouray/Moab trip. I am going delete front tow point and design an alternative. Bumper, sliders MT rear arms and skids plates did their job well to protect rig.

Id say 250lbs is the starting point for the 2723s. I have a bit more and the rear feels a little too stiff. The 2722s I had on lasted 6 months, but the ride was a lot plusher.

Yes, heavier springs are must after steel bumper install. I am gonna do them in few months.
